DUNE

Love the trailer - the Frank Herbert books are epic, and this looks to be trying to stay true to the source material, if they do then it will be peak Sci-Fi.

Bring it on.

Read Dune recently, looking forward to seeing this. Some of the actors look very different to how they’re described in the book. A terrific story mind!

Fantastic book must have read it 40 years ago. Picked it up at the beginning of lockdown still a great read. Frank had such a vivid imagination I wonder how much "spice" he was on. I am sure Star wars borrowed bits from his book. The evil empire the plucky rebellion. Some magical force sound familiar

Looking forward to this. Never read the book but remember seeing the original movie when I was a teenager and loved the universe. I enjoyed the tv series too. Be surprised if it does come out at xmas like planned.

Loved the book, loved Lynch's film but I can hardly watch that trailer. Looks too much like many other modern fantasy/sci-fi films, all special effects and no 'vibe'. But I love sci-fi in general and will still watch it in the hope of being proved wrong.

I think you get a better feel for the cinematography, the look and feel of things etc, from the video where Stephen Colbert interviews the main cast members from the film. It contains a bunch of footage and 'behind the scenes' stuff not shown in the official trailer.

Dune was used for Star Wars, it’s no secret. Spice, Tuskens, Sand crawlers, parts of the plot etc

I thought the film was alright. The issue was always going to be it's basically half a film and they didn't even know if part 2 would be made (it is)

Then again I've not read the books. I'm on of those who's usually read the book before a film or series comes out. I used to scream at Game of Thrones saying 'that didn't happen in the books' 😂

So my judgment is on the film only.

Lord or the rings proved you can nail a long series of books of given enough time and budget.

Timothy Chalamet seems to be in every film I see these days. Been in 5 films in the last 3 months.

Dune, The French Dispatch, Dont Look Up, Little Women, The King

Get into The Expanse if you want first class Sc Fi.
Real people real emotions real science. NO MAGIC!
All 6 seasons available on Amazon Prime.

I was very late to the expanse party. I smashed them all in over a couple of months (I was sneaking off to watch them like I was having an affair as missues doesn't like Sci-Fi😂)

I'm reading the books to see how it all ends. It's a bit of a slog as only on book 4 (of 9) and still in the 'seen it on TV' stage. Roll on book 7 when it's all new lol.

Just got round to watching Dune, was a little confusing at first, but once I got my head round the who's who I thought it was outstanding.

Can't wait for the second part, only wish I'd seen it at the cinema.
