Drinking in and around King's Cross

And the Princess Louise, and Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. You are never more than a few yards away from a Sam Smith's in that London.
Sadly.

Not a fan of Sam Smiths personally. Went into YeOlde Cheshire Cheese last Wednesday lunchtime just off a Fleet St as I was down there and hadn’t been in for years. They have closed off half the pub now and with empty glasses piled on the bar to greet us it wasn’t welcoming. We walked out and went over to Smithfield for a much better pint in the Hand and Shears.

I like sammy smiths probably because my first pub was the cooper. I am not even sure if the beer was any good to be honest, but it has a certain nostalgia

I can relate to this but it was the linny rather than the cooper. I didn't think the beer was any good (and still don't) but spent most of 6th form in there.

Ah the good old days when no one cared if you were old enough to drink.

I’m here with the missus right now . Was in convent garden yesterday and really busy and today in soho and rammed also . Seems pretty busy everywhere . Old school pubs seem the busiest . It’s like a different world compared to the Boro
Its so different isnt it and i can think of plenty of reasons why that might be. Its actually pleasurable and relaxing to go out down there and have a drink rather than be on edge in most places round teesside or be the only ones in the place.

I've found myself The Betjeman Arms at St Pancras while I await the arrival of my mate. Couple of real ales on tap so trying one of those.

Betjeman’s bar in St Pancras, the Rocket a couple of blocks away, the Summerstown is also close.

It's (or used to be) two different bars.

On the left (as you look at the station) was the Euston Taps and on the right was the Cider Taps. Not sure if it still is, but it's a decent enough place to drink especially if you like looking at building sites as the current HS2 site is pretty much on top of it.
Yeah it is. The Euston Tap now has a kind of rubbishy outside bit now. The cider tap has more character
