Don't pay uk

Not much. Just a guy came round one day and knocked on the door and asked a few questions. He was sound, he came in for a brew, we had a chat and he left.
I'm more than happy to pay £13 a month for the BBC. I listen to Radio 6 Music daily, use the Iplayer a lot, watch England games in tournaments, Wimbledon each year, the Olympics, listen to Boro on BBC Tees and like the fact lots of normal people are in creative enjoyable employment in the institution. How much is Netflix these days? About the same I suppose. Give me the BBC every time.

I can't claim to be an expert but this seems to be how it has always worked.
When the economy is good the rich get richer.
The poor get thrown a few more scraps so the wealthy don't feel so guilty.
When the economy is bad the rich still get richer but the poor starve.
If the poor complain or make life difficult for the rich they suffer more.
I think they call it economics.

Just tell them you don’t watch any BBC channels or and of their online content. It’s easy to do. They sent someone round to check, but it was about a year or so later. We only really watch Netflix and I only watch live sport via virgin and never watch terrestrial tv. The licence will be abolished in the near future anyway.
Watching live TV of any kind requires a licence bud

Ruined credit rating, impossible to ever get a mortgage or any credit plus the possibility of bailiffs at your door. Its really not a good idea if you don't want your finances ruined

What was the original justification for the TV licence?
Was it like a toll road charge to cross a new bridge but for tv stations instead?

There are a lot of things that are immoral and wrong in our country that would be sorted very quickly should there be organised boycottes but people do not stand up together in numbers large enough. Its usually just to difficult to organise.

Wouldn’t happen if enough did it
It would, it takes seconds for a company to report something to a credit score. This wouldn’t stop even if a million people didn’t pay their bills.

Just hope people aren’t daft enough to try this, the protest wouldn’t work but people will feel the implications for years to come with a missed payment

Even if millions did wouldn’t companies just put their costs up more to recover the losses?

Well the anti-vaxxers, flat earthers, covid deniers were spouting their right to not pay any bills as we all own the natural resources…

I bet they are behind some of the momentum to do this.

It is a good idea. But it's a one in all in thing. If we all did it actions would have to be taken. You current prosecute 66 million people that easily.

As others have said though, we won't all do it, and the fewer that do it the greater the risk

If everyone did it the credit system would collapse. What would be the point in reporting or recording that everyone refused to pay their electricity bill?

This. I missed a mortgage payment in 2016 and my credit score nosedived. It took until this year to get back to where I was and I pay everything on time.

this campaign (dontpayuk) urges mass collective action, to refuse to pay ridiculous energy bills. It will only get worse if people don't protest because we know that government and oil companies don't care who suffers as long as they sustain their power or profits. Millions refusing to pay could cause a seismic shift in the industry.

What do people think?
When you cease paying for something by cancelling a direct debit the energy company legally can turn the supply off. Looking at the dontpayuk sites they have a paucity of information and aims. The ill formed campaign urges action without thought towards the logical consequences. It looks like a school project.

Maybe there's other ways theses crooks can be adversely impacted. The French people wouldn't let these greedy companies get away with it they would take direct action
