Don’t Forget to Submit Your Meter Readings Before October 1st

I've still got a year and a month left of a 5yr fixed rate deal. I'm already getting warning e mails about what's ahead.

It's not advisable for everyone to rush to submit a meter reading on the first October as it will crash the systems & that will put those desperately in need of help unable to get it.
My supplier has provided an alternative method of submitting readings & said that I have up to the 14th before they would do an estimated bill.

My 'smart' Gas meter is broken. The battery failed a couple of months ago so it's no longer taking readings on the meter or transmitted to the supplier. Been on at Scottish Power for ages about it and raised a complaint but they can;t be bothered to do anything.

So I'm relying on them to not over estimate our use or to put more of the use in the post rise bracket.

I have a smart meter. I've had it for 2 years. It's about as 'Smart' as..... Well as something that's not.

I am forever getting emails to manually update reading as not receiving any data. They are great when they work. I've had nothing but issues with mine for 2 years.

Also as yet never sent anyone to have a look at it. Also probably spent £50 or more in phone calls to customer services (usually never speaking to anyone).

'smart meters' my ars*😂

Just take a digital photo of your meter via your phone. Make sure you can make out the readings and you'll be fine. If your power company overestimate the readings, you could be quid's in, if underestimated them show them your photo.

Hang on. Can't you change the battery? Is there no mechanical dial read-out on these 'smart' meters?

If Scot Power have installed the meter and it has failed then don't pay until they fix it. They won't have a leg to stand on.

Take a photo that clearly shows your readings and email them the readings along with your account number. They should update your account and send an accurate bill.

Even if you do have a smart meter.. still do. My Gas was last taken 55 days ago and Electricity 30...

Is yours a SMETS1 or a SMETS2 meter?

Im with Eon.

Currently paying £220 per month Gas and Electric.

Had an email stating my payments going down to £153 from 1st Oct. Two days later, my payments going to £185 from 5th October.

Statement on my account says the two seperate payments coming out of my account on the 1st of the month.

Not sure if I'm now paying £183 per month, or a combined total of £338.

Tried to ring them, gave up after 30 mins.

Will wait and see what happens in the next month or so.

I had the same. It's because the 1st one is for the old tariff and includes the 1st of the £400 rebate payments (6 months of £67) so will really be £220 (£153 = £220 - £67). The 2nd one will be your new tariff less the rebate (£252-£67).

That makes sense now. 😊
