Does Bettinelli save anything?

I mean, I know he does but I'd really like to see his stats. My impression is that almost anything on target ends up as a goal. I think he is a very, very poor keeper.

I'd agree, think he made a half decent save against Brentford (might have been the one that led to their goal though) but I'm yet to walk away from a game thinking we were saved by the keeper which we have done with pretty much every other keeper (Steele & Turnbull excepted maybe).

I thought he was awful at the weekend. I know it was a powerful strike for the second but it was right at him and I thought he should have done a lot better. The first one was just a mess.

I posted on saturday after the match that he may as well have no hands.
I've lost count of the goals that simply go straight through him and he doesn't get down to anything.
He flaps on crosses and simply doesn't know where he is in his own box.

He is a talker and can kick pretty well, but I want my goalkeeper to make saves and command his 6 yard box.

Went down like a deck of cards looking for a foul on the 1st one. He's about the the same height as Nick Pope, he should be coming & taking corners especially given that the goalie's nearly always get the benefit of the doubt, the guy blocking him should have been skittles. If Warnock's issue with Pears was his lack of height/command at set pieces, then this big turd is no better & Pears like his Father was an infinitely better shot stopper. Isn't Blackwell an ex Keeper, what do they see in Betinelli apart from he can kick it a fair distance?

Saw something last week that showed him as the second worst in the league for saving shots on target. TBH I was staggered that there was someone worse in the league. Might be harsh but despite him striking it well that second goal on Saturday should have been a fairly routine save. Straight at him

The summer signings have been terrible.

His distribution is awful.

It's not 1999 anymore, goalkeepers cannot just hoik it down the field hoping for the best thinking it's fine because they've cleared their lines and done the job.

Even central defenders these days are more likely to try and pass out from the back than just hoof it forward. I've noticed this even more and more in the non league game too.

Bettenelli is a dying breed of keeper soon to be extinct.

Would rather have Steele or Turnbull before Bettinelli.

He is our biggest weakness, which given our lack of goals is saying something. Although he is a big lad and looks very commanding he is hopeless dealing with shots that are low to his side. It takes him an age to get down. It does me too, but I'm 64 years old. His incessant old school launching of the ball in to the stratosphere every time, even when there's a little 5 yard ball on to an unmarked defender, is also very unhelpful. Stops us building possession and rhythm and makes everything a scrap.

He’s absolutely garbage and his hoofing of the ball is annoying at times but I think we need to lay that one down at the managers door. It’s a Warnock instruction. I doubt Bettinelli did that when he played under Jokanovic at Fulham.

I would go for Josh Griffiths. 12 clean sheets in 25 appearances, on loan at Cheltenham from West Brom. This is the kind of bargain basement we have to shop in these days.

Completely agree - a good strike but he seemed to dive under it

Even Martin Lewis could not help him save anything. A truly woeful keeper, right up there with Brad Jones and Ben Roberts for me. I would argue Steele was a better keeper. Stojanovic was our best keeper (not perfect) and we let him go. Archer, who i think is a terrible keeper too, actually should be given an opportunity. Bettinelli looks like a pub player in the Sunday League having had a ten pinter on the Saturday night.

I don’t even think he’s that good as poor as guzan was and he was hopeless.

he certainly seems to prefer punching or flapping at it rather than actually catching the ball from a cross or corner
