Does anyone really care about blue passports?

"It’s utterly pathetic that brexiteers are championing blue passports. "

Are they - where did you see that?"

Of course they are and you can see it anywhere you care to look.
Leaving the European Union gave us a unique opportunity to restore our national identity and forge a new path in the world," said Home Secretary Priti Patel.

"By returning to the iconic blue and gold design, the British passport will once again be entwined with our national identity and I cannot wait to travel on one."

Nigel Farage, who heads the Brexit Party, had called the return to the blue colour a "tangible victory" of the referendum.

The Daily Express carries a headline:
Blue passports return NEXT MONTH in huge step to restore national identity after Brexit

These are just a couple of examples - there are plenty more.

So the daily express, Patel and Farage comments blanket cover everyone? I think you’d find outside of ya anti Brexit bubble most don’t care

That was pretty much my original point. Outside of the politicians and your hardcore "Brexit at any cost" leave voter I don't understand why anyone would care and I doubt they do.

Yet the politicians are making it out to be a big deal. It's almost as if there are no other tangible benefits to brexit worth crowing about isn't it?

Of course if Priti Patel and the other Tories were so upset by not having blue passports before, begs the question why they weren't putting pressure on the PM to change them years ago? As obviously this was within their gift, being in the EU didn't prevent it.

Still waiting to see how Boris and co are going to bring the country together. So far just seems to consist of rubbing remainders noses in it and promises of a hard brexit. Almost as if the "reuniting the country" talk was just a meaningless soundbite. Hard to believe I know.

Other than I prefer blue to burgundy then no not that bothered.
My old 'blue' passports looks 'black'. As does the one Boris is holding in the photo on Friday (when he should have been accompanying Prince Charles to the areas of severe flooding).

It's a strange one, this colour of the passport thing. For me the colour doesn't matter, its use is the important thing.

Same goes for the currency. I can buy nothing with sterling that I can't buy with Euros.

I can't see why people get so excited about them, is it insecurity?

Probably corcaigh or some sort of symbolic thing. For me the problem with the blue passports is that they are lass useful than the EU Burgundy ones as the allow us free passage to fewer places. No one seems to care about that.

putting politics aside I think the blue is more aesthetically pleasing TBH. If we have the same ink as the US passports I’ll be happy as they go so dark, look almost black and it works really well

The blue passports that so many seem to think represents ‘freedom’ will come to represent the very opposite.

In years to come they’ll symbolise a backwards thinking, insular time in our history where freedoms were eroded rather than expanded.

I don’t care one jot what the colour of my passport is. I have a burgundy one and apparently it is generally accepted in every country around the world as valid don’t you know, which is all i care about. All this symbolic nonsense is ridiculous and irrelevant anyway, especially when you see lots of people put them in protective stylised designer wallets that covers up the front and backs anyway. I am proud to be British, but I don’t wander across the globe proclaiming it, other than through my obvious fashion faux pas and lily white arms and legs that is.

I did leave the board FatCat, yes. Never been back on it, don’t miss it nor some of the idiots on it. This board is currently much more civilised, I hoped people would decide to keep it this way, time will tell as people migrate, some daft trolls will migrate too I guess

the home office have called it environmentally friendly too... i think theyre refering to all those people who will be put off travelling to the 27 countries that we originally had free access to...:cautious:
