Does anyone really care about blue passports?

I don't get it? I suppose I can see the point that it's symbolic to a degree. But it's something the majority of people will use once or twice a year max. It's not unique either, loads of countries have blue passports.

The fanfare that the government and idiots like Farage seem to think it warrants just seems bizarre. I doubt the majority of leave voters care what colour their passport is either.

Could be pink with yellow spots as far as I'm concerned. Not exactly a fashion accessory is it? Am I missing something?

Well. Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell for one who said in April last year that the burgundy passport had been a source of national “humiliation”. 🤔

It's symbolic for those who voted leave. Nothing more than that.

On another note. I was coming off a ship in Norway last week. We had to pass through Immigration and I had to explain Schengan to all but one of the British lads. Most of those voted leave and hadn't heard of it.

It's utterly pathetic and indicative of the 'leave' mindset. No interest in setting off a big argument here, so I'll leave it there.

Yes

Burgundy is an awful colour. Would never wear burgundy clothes. Even the name burgundy sounds depressing.

Loving the blue

Of course you all know that it was not an EU requirement to have a burgundy passport in the first place, don't you? It was a choice by the UK government. Croatia for instance, has a blue passport even though it's in the EU.
It was Margaret Thatcher who decided on the 'burgundy' passport, so you can stick that up your b***ks Andrew Rosindell.

It makes me proud! It commands respect!!!
Everybody around the world sees a blue passport and instantly thinks ‘Wow.....Great Britain’.
Or one of the other 80 or so countries that have blue passports.

I've got an old one in a drawer at home and it's such an incredibly dark blue it's indistinguishable from black.

mine too .... when this colour issue came up in the campaign, I looked at my old one as I really had no recollection that it was blue. Sure enough, it was black. Apparently as the dye ages/is exposed to light, it darkens. I am going to guess that this French vendor has fixed this colour issue with the new one.

We also used to have one year passports in the 70s which were pinky-beige.

It’s utterly pathetic that brexiteers are championing blue passports. For many points : 1. For years and years not one person cared about the colour of our passports now all of a sudden it’s a massive win for team brexit.
2. You can be a member of the EU and have a blue passport we’ve already mentioned croatia
3. It is beyond contemptuous if people say it gives us an identity: what like North Korea, Hong Kong, the United States, or any of the other 81 countries with a blue passport?
4. Brexit has devalued the passport. Making it much less useful than it used to be, is it really worth getting an inferior product because you like the colour?

yes it does look good, but it’s less effective than the EU burgundy ones because now a British passport restricts our movement.

also: the quote about schengen is terrifying but does help prove my point that brexiteers got schengen , the euro and the eu mixed up

Looks like the new ones are a similar shade, from the pictures I've seen.

I have an old beige one as well!

The decision to give the contract to a French company, who outsourced it to a Polish company cost 200 British jobs round here. but, as Boris said, "FK business"

Are they - where did you see that ?Brexit.jpg - Urban myth

You know it , I know it that its really an object of ridicule to make the Brexit case look stupid. The overuse of this ridicule is now having the opposite effect when the remainers keep pointing out the Blue passport as a Brexiteers reason to exit.
