Do you want Warnock next season?

I find it hard to criticise a manager who has been here for just over 2 weeks and has outside the relegation places whilst still trying to find out which players are upto it and which players suits which position best, these lads aren’t his players and he was brought in to keep us up. And if he does that, and he fancies having a proper crack with his own players, and with his record then I see no reason why we shouldn’t get behind that.

The next manager we get in is going to have to deal with the worst situation I have seen since Rioch. We will have a threadbare squad of young pros who really should be out on loan getting experience and ironing out their inconsistencies. Mixed with senior pros who are basically going through the motions to pick up their pay packets or signing options because they know in this Covid situation we are in their performaces wont warrant interest from other clubs at the salary we have to pay. I was a little bit caught up in the relief of the Millwall win and thought Warnock might be just what we need, but I am not so sure. I think it will be less of a gamble with Warnock as boss next year than some new up and coming coach, yet with a blank canvas in squad terms if we get the right person in it might be the start of something interesting, rather than just not flirting with relegation. If the senior pros looked like they give a 5hit every match I would definitely go with an up and coming coach as he would have a foundation to build his philosophy. As it is I think we are going to be left with Saville, Mcnair, Howson, Fletcher and Britt and anyone seeing their performances over the past 3 years would know they will only do what they think. I certainly would not trust my fledgling coaching career on people like that. If Warnock signs on I think the club and us might have to accept that the identity and philosophy they lauded last year will have to take a back seat.

I just hope Gibson learns his lesson after the Woodgate appointment. Let's be honest, talk of the club adopting a philosophy of playing in a certain way long-term was just a smokescreen. As appealing as the idea seemed, realistically Woodgate was never going to be the right man to implement it and take us forward. Woodgate was appointed because Gibson wanted to do it on the cheap, and he knew Woodgate would be a 'Yes' man.

I'm not sure where we'll go next if Warnock doesn't get the job. I think what will be important is that we appoint a manager who has done well working with a tight budget. Please Gibson don't just appoint another rookie and expect them to work miracles, because as it's been proven with Woodgate, it's too big of a gamble to take.

Always said this club needs a philosophy but was never gonna be all out attacking football we just aren't that club, Warnock suits us down to ground

Yeah, and it's got to be the right man to actually implement it as well, especially if you're going to expect them to work on a tight budget.

I know Gibson has history of giving rookies a chance but he shouldn't be doing it when the club isn't in a great state financially. You're just asking for trouble.

Couldn't agree more, just offer Warnock a lifetime deal he will see us right

Honest opinion... No

No I can’t say I am very impressed with what I have seen. We don’t look any harder to beat than when we had Woodgate.

Yes.

He’s trying to correct a decade of Steve Gibson’s incompetence in 3 weeks.

it’s an impossible task.

I would give him a chance yes, if he has the energy needed to overhaul things and put the club on the right footing again.

Are you serious?! You think we'd have got ANY points at Stoke or Millwall under Deadwood?! I know we all have our opinions but that's an incredible post.

I would give Warnock the gig. Why not? Certainly if he keeps us up.
He is not the answer though. He lives at the other end of the country and he’s into his 70’s.
The problem we have is these players, or some of them, are absolutely creaming a living. It’s unreal.
Britt is one of the worst footballers in this league. Slow, terrible touch, lazy, stupid grin Saville turns up 1 in 6 games. Looks like he’s running in wellies. Honestly, for a youngish small lad he’d struggle over 100m against Warnock.
McNair. If he was from any other country bar San Marino he’d struggle to be an international. If I never saw the team sheet I wouldn’t know he was playing.
Fry. What happened.
Nmecha on loan looks rediculous. How did he end up on city’s books, surely not as a footballer.
Friend and Clayton are done but atleast they’ve paid back 10 times over what we paid for them. Great servants.
I’d keep howson, fletcher and all the young lads. The rest I wouldn’t lose sleep over.
we really have got the recruitment wrong for so long and that’s another reason I’d give warnock atleast a season.

It’s a big ‘yes‘ from me..once he gets to know his players and their personalities, we will be a more set, compact and together team. Those who are found not to tow the line will be down the road, and that I like 👍🏻

Our current situation might just filter out some of the pretenders if offered the job.

I think with warnock he’d virtually guarantee you top half finish . Our budget will dictate how far we go after that . I bit of luck in the transfer market wouldn’t go a miss either .
Most the first team need to move on though .

I don't think it matters who we bring in while the people above in the club hierarchy still have their Moneyball fantasies and romantic ideals of our tinpot scouting setup unearthing gems that Brentford etc. haven't noticed.

Need a midfielder with reliable passing and forward attacking stats? No bother, here's a bloke that six clubs have rejected in four years and hasn't scored since a Plantaganet was on the throne.

We could do it if we had two players for every position.. and stopped paying two three times ott

Yes - bring a bit of pride and passion back to the club. Warnock engenders a real sense of us being a local family club and real his passion will hopefully re-energise fans who have had a pretty horrible couple of years.Absolutely what we need now. Let him have a year to either get us back to the Championship or scrape a top 6 spot for the play offs fir the EPL maybe with a potential future boss alongside learning the ropes from the Master
