Bar the obvious with fry’s suspension of course.

Given how bad Sundays overall display was esp in mf can you see carrick opting to stick by them or roll the dice to get a reaction.

No I’d stick with them. Carrick success has been with these players and consistency is key with the line up. Obviously McNair in for Fry. That’s all.

Archer for Crooks, no way we’ve signed Archer to warm the bench for too long.

McNair for Fry.. other than that we just go again.

We have been excellent at home since MC came in so no need to panic off the back of one bad day.

yep. Archer in .... needs to start to show his skills ... push Akpom up front? or play 2 number 10s interchanging up front ...

Archer for Crooks for me. Also tempted to give McGree or Forss a rest and give Jones a chance to play.

Obviously McNair in for the suspended Fry.

Carrick has tended to stick with the players who’ve done well.

I don’t see wholesale changes. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Archer come in (probably for Crooks) and the forced change at the back. But beyond that, the same team.

I think Archer will start.

The midfield does need addressing, we can get pushed back too easily and end up being a bit bullied

I think its harsh on Crooks to suggest dropping him. In the 3 league games before Sunderland, he set up a goal against Blackburn, scored 2 and an assist against Birmingham and played very well against Millwall. He wasnt taken off against the Mackems because he was particularly poor either, it was just tactical.

I'm not convinced by Crooks up top, or Forss out wide. I know we've had some success with them there but I think we'd be better with Forss back up front and hopefully an improved Jones back out wide.

Hopefully starts Archer, Crooks has done well but he is not a striker, the extra pace Archer gives us will help keep Watford on their back foot.
Crooks can be a great asset from the bench, he can be used in various positions if and when needed.

I don't think he played particularly well against any of them.

He certainly didn't in the first half against Blackburn or Birmingham, he just popped up with goal involvements in the second half which obviously ensured he kept his place.

He's not a striker, and I think it's daft that we're using him as one whilst having 3 strikers on the bench or outside of the 18 and 1 playing out wide instead.

He's great as a goalscoring midfielder and he's certainly an option from the bench for his presence, but he's not great in the air, he lacks pace and he's not amazing at holding the ball up.
He's also spent almost his entire career as a midfielder.

I do like the idea of Archer and Akpom playing together as alternating 9/10 roles.

Other than Paddy for Dael and assuming no injuries, same again please (well a bit better than SoL would be nice).
