People said that the send-off from Red Faction was cringey on Saturday night.

Not as cringey as some of the comments in this thread. Contacting Sky to complain about football commentators, have a day off.

It was biased for the first 20 minutes. Don Goodman has been commentating on Boro games for years and always has great things to say about the club and Steve Gibson.

Oh yes they would that was a disgrace yesterday look at the reaction on Twitter even sky seem to know they stepped too far.

Yep, bigger issue for me is the continued employment of people like Goodman on commentary duties. The guy literally brings nothing. No interesting analysis, no ex-professionals insight, very little attempt to explain the tactical intricacies of the game as its played.

I might start writing a list of tired, bored football clichés before games and simply tick them off as he rattles through them.

He's not alone in this regard, for me there's only Neville on Sky's roster who adds anything even remotely interesting or original to debate of the game.

It's a real bugbear of mine but the mindless dumbing down of football commentary in this country is appalling.

We’ve had players and managers join the comms team before. Made sense to be a Sunderland player at their place given the suspended players would be expected to attend a home game. Don commentates on lots of teams and is as neutral as they come.

You think Goodman is good? Jesus wept. He’s awful, And yes I did ring Sky. I pay enough money to tell them it was garbage thanks. Having to sit threw that sh***. No thanks. If you speak to people sometimes they might listen and take it on board. Say nothing, nothing changes. Simple

Ringing. Why not? I take feedback in my job. Why shouldn’t they, when they charge the prices they do. To pay players obscene amount of wages. I wasn’t ringing in isolation, a hell of a lot of boro fans felt the same and were narked off with it too. I just took it upon myself to let them know what we thought of it

Must say i'm shocked at the overreaction to this.

He was on for less than a quarter of the game, of course they'll ask him questions about his own team. I actually think it was quite refreshing to have a current player on co-comms - he came across a decent bloke.

Not sure what all the negativity is about, lets be honest everybody would have loved it if it was a banned/injured boro player.

FFS The camera was showing them shaking ONiens hand in the commentary position while play was going on. Utterly unbelievable.

Whenever he covers Boro games, he always sides with whoever our opposition are over any contencious decisions.

He's as transparent as Sean Dyche in his dislike for us.
