Do we have to listen to the bias pathetic commentary on sky

That wasn’t biased as in edging one side of the other that was saturation and it was planned why else invite a current sunlun player who is not even injured either as he was sent off.

so its not even a human interest piece of say a how is the recovery coming on angle no it was purely biased saturation to snuff us out.

It was shocking in fact I would be surprised if it breach broadcast rules on impartiality.

Don Goodman ex sland alongside a current player , That said we were poor but it was terrible to listen to the biased views , making them out to be Real Madrid & stewart ala Benzema , even the geordies watching were raging how biased it was in pub

The "commentary" was laughable with what was happening on the pitch barely mentioned for the first twenty minutes whilst they kissed the rrse of every employee of the Stade de Shoite with the possible exception of Edna the Tea Lady. Throughout the game the camera had a dreadful habit of lingering on Carrick or Mowbray at the expense of anything meaningful happening on the pitch (or even not) for as long as the two halfwits in the commentary box chatted amicably about either manager, whilst the match went on in the background (we must assume)

Considering the appalling refereeing, the amateurish TV production and the risible performance of the team, I wish I hadn't bothered.

Grrrrr.

Must say i'm shocked at the overreaction to this.

He was on for less than a quarter of the game, of course they'll ask him questions about his own team. I actually think it was quite refreshing to have a current player on co-comms - he came across a decent bloke.

Not sure what all the negativity is about, lets be honest everybody would have loved it if it was a banned/injured boro player.

When it's two British clubs, I don't think it's reasonable in the slightest to have a current player of only one of the clubs on the commentary.

It's the literal definition of bias.

I've got no problem with Don Goodman on the comms, he does a lot of Championships matches and it just happens that he once played for Sunderland.

But Luke O'Nien would have been starting yesterday if he wasn't suspended, he should not have been there.

If we were on Sky against Watford and Dael Fry was commentating, I wouldn't agree with that either.

The only way it would be fine is if they had a player from each team involved.

Unbelievable low standard by Sky. Fancy giving an interview during play with a player who was sent off in a previous game and generally the comments were biased rubbish.

So if howson for example was banned and they had him on co-comms for 20 minutues talking about the boro players, you'd have been annoyed? I find that hard to believe personally mate

If they had Howson and O'Nien talking, I wouldn't mind.

If they had just Howson, I'd think it was out of order.

Not sure why you'd find it hard to believe, they're meant to be a neutral commentary team, that covers both directions.

I just found it quite refreshing tbh mate, regardless of which team the player was associated with.

Would have been nice if we smashed a few in during those 20 mins like 😄

I think they do it quite often when there's a player out injured or similar (red card in this case). I guess it just doesn't grate as much when they are commentating about two teams you don't care about.

Personally I quite like the additional insight.
I don't think they do it quite often at all. In fact this might be the first time.
Injured players in the studio maybe, but not on the commentary team.

They hardly talked about the action while he was doing his 20 minutes.
In fact the whole Sky production was a bit odd. What was the box of Celebrations all about? Did I miss something?

If it had been done before the match no issue. For twenty minutes we had to endure a prat talking over the match whilst saying nothing of relevance to what was happening on the pitch and it would have been just as irritating if it was a Boro player. It was like when you are at the game and the people next to you are prattling on about going shopping at Tesco or whatever. I prefer my commentators to be minimal and informative those two were neither and more than that they were so self absorbed I doubt they were even watching the game and when the camera lingered on them they did not appear to be.

I’ve never seen that before ever especially in a league game it would not happen to another side.

It was a disgrace and I hope he club make a formal complaint.

Btw I’m not sure why either as it was a sunlun home game so the sunlun fans won’t have seen it.

People said that the send-off from Red Faction was cringey on Saturday night.

Not as cringey as some of the comments in this thread. Contacting Sky to complain about football commentators, have a day off.

It was biased for the first 20 minutes. Don Goodman has been commentating on Boro games for years and always has great things to say about the club and Steve Gibson.

Stop trying to throw schit at the wall hoping it sticks. You all sound like Liverpool fans.

I especially liked the disappointed sigh from the commentator when Steffan made a save, or the interruption from chatting about Sunderland players golfing abilities to focus on a Sunderland chance with the comment "wait, we're in here".
