Do many other posters ‘ignore’ people on here?

In regards of having specific posters blocked or ignored via that function on here. I’m tempted to do it because some of the absolute dogsh*t I’ve read on here over the past week or so is really grating and gets in the way of the interesting things more sensible people post.

Just wonder if blocking people creates a sort of echo chamber and whether that’s healthy. But there’s some real nonsense on here that really doesn’t need to be read, IMO.

You can do that? Well, everydays a schoolday.

I think I'd only do it if posters were getting stalker-ish and/or extremely personal......I'm thick skinned so can cope with people disagreeing with me.
Been on this board since 2000 so used to the level of absurd sh*t that sometimes gets posted, but I just tend to gloss over it.

99% of the posters on here are sound, but as with all walks of life, certainly a few proper chebs.

I’ll admit I try to limit my ignores list to just a handful and will even un ignore them From time to home to see if they have changed.

But I agree with you different even confrontation views are not necessarily a bad thing as it creates debate but I draw the line at unfounded negativity and those that refuse to even begin to debate and are just confrontational ( I’m guessing lost do the same).

I appreciate the view that it's good to have your views challenged and to be open minded, so with this in mind, my ignore list is relatively small.

That said, there seems to be so many people who simply double down on some ridiculous takes and so I'm not actually that convinced that there is genuine debate happening.

Life is too short to have to deal with nonsense in what is effectively downtime. You'll be amazed at how much of a disproportionate affect there is in ignoring just a couple of the cranks

I've got about a dozen on my ignore list. Nothing personal, just people who had a habit of constantly posting about brexit, politics in general, and woke ****. I come here for the footy banter so ignoring certain posters filters out the non-football related stuff (mostly).

I "ignore" one poster on here, mainly because they seemed to become a bit obsessive with everything I posted and regardless of the subject it resulted in them throwing insults. I know I'm not the only one who this individual was doing it to, but its a much better experience when you can use the function for things like that.

Couldn’t you just not answer their post rather than put them on some ignore list ?
im sure they would get sick and just move along.

seems strange that some might post to just cause chew or similar, some of the football knowledge from some in here is fantastic and great to read 👍🏻

I have a few posters are on ignore some of which were just trolling and have very quickly been banned I suspect as they haven't posted in a long time, others because they post rubbish rather than because I disagree with them. You still see their postings as an "ignored" poster and you can read them. Which usually just goes to reinforce why you ignored them in the first place! (E.g. Blott)

I've never blocked anyone but there's a couple who I avoid reading. Blocking, I assume, means that their posts don't appear which could mean that posts from posters I do want to read look out of context.
It actually works quite well. Instead of their post you just see a gap with a message saying "You're ignoring this doyle". Likewise if someone proper quotes them. Also gives you an option to view the inane drivel they've posted anyway.

Only 2. Most of the rest of the posters on here are great, or tolerable at least! I don't mind people with different or strong opinions - I have strong opinions myself on some subjects. But those 2 are either trolls or wind-up-merchants, and tend to be overbearing and often ruin what could be interesting threads on certain topics.

I've just checked and I have 13 on my ignore list... I didn't realise it was that many  that being said, a few of them were part-time trolls and have since packed it in by the looks of it.

Sometimes posters just really grate on me and it makes the board a lot more fun to use when I can't see what they're saying.
