Do Boro need new players before the Transfer Window closes ?

We are approximately 9 points above the relegation area and far enough from the playoffs to be out of contention this season, do Boro with about 51 points to play for need to rush into making decisions in the short time left to us ?

Taking into consideration that the Roberts injury is a new blow, we may or may not have Assombalonga back on the field and we are desperately short of centre backs although Friend and Shotton may return soon, would you "keep our powder dry", plan for next season and concentrate on tying a couple of "essentials" up contractwise ?

Yes.
Even if it's just one defender, we're so short at the back.
9 points can quickly disappear.

Yes all over the pitch really. We are just making do at present but as said about 9 points can soon evaporate in this league.

Remember in the top division. We got beat by Villa at New Year. Think we could have went second if we had won and ended up getting relegated against Sheff Wed.

You could also put the lack of success in those games bear66 down to Woodgate receiving the jinx Manager of the Month award.😐

With Ayala out for another 4 weeks at least, we still look light in central defence. McNair should be in midfield.

I was told there would be a couple more - that was before the keeper was signed, so not sure if he was one of those players.

Memory playing you tricks I think. Yes we got beat at Hillsborough to be relegated but we played Villa at home on Dec 10th and we had gone through a terrible Oct and November. No way we would have been up there at Christmas. We had already lost 8 including the first 3 games by the start of December.
