Middlesbrough's premiere history and local culture event is back and in person!

Discover Middlesbrough returns today (Friday, October 15) and runs right through until the end of October.

Over the course of just over two weeks nearly 50 events will be held in Middlesbrough - all showcasing a facet of the town or its people that you might otherwise not know.

Walk from Barrage to Bridge along the River Tees. Or experience a Curious Night at Dorman Museum. Ultra-runner Sharon Gayter will speak of her experiences, historian Martin Peagam will tell the tale of local people at the Battle of Trafalgar and Dr Tosh Warwick will tell of Memories of Middlesbrough in the 1970s and 1980s before leading a walk from Ayresome Park to Riverside and Boro's match v Birmingham City.

The fortnight will also see walks and tours, art exhibitions, craft sessions and Halloween events.

This year's Discover Middlesbrough will also feature a special trail where participants can wander through the town and discover the poems and artwork from John Powls' book North Sea to the East in shops, galleries and venues, the Art House, The Masham, Pineapple Black, MIMA, Heritage Gallery and Base Camp.

Discover Middlesbrough co-ordinator Robert Nichols said: "We want to welcome everyone back to explore and rediscover some of the hidden gems of Middlesbrough."
