Gangs of new York has always dissapionted me with its ending, love the film. But always felt the ending made most of the rest of the film seem a bit pointless and a massive let down on the build up, yeah it concluded the storyline but in such a anti climatic way.

Always said they should have remade the end of Von Ryans Express and let Frankie catch the train then just show it without telling anyone. Fantastic surprise
Same with Steve McQueen in Great Escape would have loved to have seen him get over that fence on his motorbike
