Diesel Emissions Claims

I keep seeing ads and receiving unsolicited emails about compensation due to diesel cars under representing emissions.

Is this just a scan or is there something in this story!

The new PPI. I tried it with an old Golf I used to own. Got told by the claims company they couldn't help me as I bought the car from a independent dealership. Apparently they only dealt in claims for cars bought from main dealers and from brand new.

Same, I had a golf estate bought at 1 year old with 1800 miles on the clock but it didn’t count ffs 🤦‍♂️

Oh that's interesting. I had a 65 plate golf gtd that I bought from a car supermarket. My missues also banged one in for a little Skoda Fabia diesel she had.

We applied separately through a diesel claim company. I have to admit I never checked or read the small print other than roughly a 3rd of any payment will go to them.

That was 3 months ago and not had so much as an email. So just presumed nothing was coming of it or its a waiting game. It sounds like I won't get anything as not a main dealer or new.

I just thought 'nothing to lose'. I banged in for ppi on a wim and received 5k. I did it through a letter to Santander (claiming from Alliance and Leicester). So it all went to me and no fees to a 3rd party. The best letter I ever wrote 😂

I mean it might differ from claim company to claim company but it's what I was told.

you qualify Mr cat I got about £2,000, just Google it and there are loads of firms that do it, they take a cut though.

I bought one from Mercedes up at Preston Park 6 yrs ago. Had it for 2 yrs. . It was a test car which had 900 miles on it. Would it count.

We joined the initial claim about 2/3 years ago for a 2011 VW polo ( bought from Arnold Clark a year old),We no longer own the car and received £1700 when the court case was settled prior to the case. We used Slater and Gordon’s I think.

Similar, I had a ‘60 Seat Ibiza. I bought it second hand 3 years old from a garage in Wallsend. I was with S&G and also got 1,700. VW settled May/June. It did not have to be from a main dealer just as long as purchased it before a certain date.

I've got one going on with Mercedes-Benz at the moment through Harcus Parker. I'm not confident anything will come from it but in fairness I had the car quite a few years.
