Dieng’s ‘injury’

Not sure how it came across on the telly or radio but it very much looked like it was all a plan to get a stoppage in the game so Carrick could gather the players and change something.

Glover was ‘warming up’ for a while before we scored the opener and you could see he was trying to communicate with Dieng, as was Fettis the keeper coach.

It was just as we were starting to panic at the back and began to go long.

Obviously we scored before he went down but as soon as we did, Glover went over behind Dieng and must have said something along the lines of go down injured. The game has to stop if a keeper needs treatment.

Carrick gathered the players, dishes out the instructions and we really dominated from that point afterwards. Dieng never looked like he was in pain.

Might only be a small thing but it was interesting to watch it play out in real time and it’s good to see us meddle with the dark arts for once.

We thought it strange that he we was jumping around celebrating the goal, talking to someone from the bench who ran round to him. Just before the whistle went to start again, he went down with some sort of leg injury.

The bench were waving and signalling to him before the goal to either put the ball out, or to start spraying it wide right more often.

We had just scored, we have a long history of going into our shells and conceding straight after scoring, calm the game down and regroup.
sh1housery at its best :)

Although I didn't see him go down . People were saying he got injured Celebrating the Goal ?
That's probably what they told the ref.

It definitely looked like they were planning it even before the goal as like I said Glover was 'warming up' for a few minutes and was visibly trying to communicate with Dieng, and then when we scored went all the way round to behind the net to speak to him.

Didn't look planned to me.

He leapt in the air celebrating/keeping warm and hurt himself on the landing.

Carrick also specifically mentioned the injury to Dieng in his post-match, which I'm not sure he'd bring up if they'd told him to fake an injury to waste time.
He doesn't strike me as the sort to be that deceptive.

He was celebrating with our fans did jumped up and it looked like he'd jarred his back. Glover was warming up proper it wasn't a time wasting thing

Glover was warming up well before the goal though, unless he predicted he was going to injure himself

No one mentioned wasting time either
