Boro had three points to prove: v Barnsley [Pics]

It was a positive outcome - but at times some of our sloppy passing and missed chances may have been punished by a confident, more capable side.
As soon as we scored, the Tykes heads visibly dropped: once a team gets into the habit of losing, its hard to break the cycle.
At the other end, we missed some glorious chances to be out-of-sight by half time.

The nervous tension at 1-0 was obvious: we`ve seen it all before - a three point lead can disappear in a few seconds and we have a habit of being generous to the opposition.

It may not be wise to believe we are now on an upward trajectory - though I hope Im very wrong.
It was a significant game for several players - not least Martin Payero - who is coming into his own.

A great performance [though its a learning curve>>>>] He could have been accredited with an "assist" for a goal for the second match in a row - if Duncan hadnt missed a sitter!

The lad is proving he deserves a place, not on the bench - but from the off!

Oops!

Sporar battled and tackled - back like a man possessed. Hes settling in to the unpredictability and physicality of the Championship.(y)
He`s got flair and class - so we need to keep him [Please Gibbo].

The South Stand have a song for Andraz Sporar - so if you dont know the words - keep your ears open.

He ran round all night like a dog after a bone, but that miss.....

Matty Crooks is an "old- fashioned" player.
Hes tall, strong, agile, puts his foot in, gets in the headers, spray`s the ball round and gives his all!
Not much to ask really!!!

He has a heart and a feel for the other players.
Hes a positive role model - on and off the pitch.
Hes got a brain.

A big positive for the team(y)

He deserves to be made CAPTAIN.

Big "Oooochie"! is a frightening opponent - he could hold Boris Johnson above his head if he had to!

Matty is doing a great job helping our young Argentinian lad settle in and feel part of the Boro squad.(y)

"Bonding" is important in team-building and creating positive spirit and morale`:
not just on the "battle-field", but in the dressing room, as well as on and off the pitch.

The Barnsley chop looks like he knows its not his ball!

"ee ar son - on me head!"

We like to see our team try - even if it doesnt always come off.
Get a sweat on and look like they mean it.
The lads did that last night.

Lets hope we do the same on Satda - even if it means Warnocks old mate, Mick McCarthy - gets the sack!

We're is your scout report roofie ?
Michal Helik was my choice, ball playing CH age 26, closely followed by
Aaron Leya Iseka , no11, who I thought was good on the eye .
Cauley Woodrow was dissapointing, Sporar is better by far.
Uche did well when he came on, a decent alround performance by the team after a slow start.

Good evening / morning / afternoon.
I was paying close attention to those players whom Mr Warnock claims are "not ready" or havent "worked hard enough in training" or "arent trying" - you know the line.
There are signs of green shoots, but a couple of defeats and they will be scythed down.

As for Barnsley: the core of the same team [which last season was seriously challenging at the top end of the Championship] is now staring relegation in the face.
The point being - after departure of the Manager with his Captain, Mowatt, the the whole team has gone upside down.
It shows how different Managers get a good [or poor] performance out of the same squad of players.
No doubt there are individual Barnsley players who are far more capable than what we saw on Wednesday - but collectively, they have imploded.

I hope we find consistency - but once our current incumbent is able to chop and change the team, as the "injury" (?) situation improves - I`m not convinced.
We will see.
Its all about the Boro(y)
