NW was advertised as been a guest on Talk Radio breakfast this morning. Did anyone hear what he said? Anything of interest?

I heard most of it. He was on at 8.30 ish for 5 mins. Talked about lots of stuff like west brom Fulham Leeds etc. talked about it being difficult to get the job done with transfers for who he’d like. Said it was a tough job and that there is lots of good youngsters. Mentioned coulson as one of them but they need experience around them
Reading between the lines : I thought he Didn’t sound mega positive in terms of getting in who he wants is who he is going to get
Maybe that’s just my interpretation but that was my take away from his call in.
Tough but they are doing what they can with limited time available

Cheers - EFL

You've picked up quite a bit in 5 minutes.

Its not always bad to believe you are an underdog and a bit under the radar - we were one of the favs under Strachan (2010) and Monk (2017) after spending a lot and failed badly.

I think he we be fully tested in 'value for money' terms. To be honest hardly anyone is signing players.

Still so many decent frees knocking about who haven't picked up clubs. Think it's just strange times. No fecker wants to commit to big contracts and wages.

He’s not being backed is he.

We have had these frustrations for a few seasons now. Unless we pay over the top valuations for Very average players it’s not easy attracting players to the North East and I suspect NW has come to realise this. The days of paying inflated fees for players is over.

And were we ever linked with Fox who has signed for Stoke? He refused a new contract at Wednesday as it wasn’t enough Stoke, backed by Bet 365, have given him a better deal.

Yup it’s just a case of which club blinks first. However, I think players need a dose of reality and realise that clubs aren’t going to be paying big wages and long contracts. They can’t do that with no gate revenue.
Also, I think the fixture release next week will move things along.

Very few transfers are going through at Championship level. I agree a game of poker is going on, but if wages continue at the current level in the Championship, clubs will fall like dominoes. We know club income will be down by a significant amount surely wages have to follow.

This is where players have got to realistic about what is going on - in the short term at least. 1 or 2 year contracts will be the norm for the foreseeable, Marvin Johnson being an example. If any player has any sense and wants security they’d take a one year offer, like he did.

Possibly 200 players chasing around 100 slots - It seems more a buyers than sellers market for once.

How much owners will dip into their own pockets and be able to hide it is going to be critical.

There is also a vote coming up of Championship chairman on a salary cap. It may not pass but it adds a bit more to the squeeze on stupid finances. D1 and D2 have bitten the bullet and wages are dropping.
