Did anyone here see The Clash live?

Was that gig, the Rock Against Racism? I could be wrong, but wasn't that the footage they used in 'Rude Boy?' - I've seen that on YouTube
Yes it was the Rock Against Racism gig. I remember Patrick Fitzgerald being bottled off, and X-Ray Spex were equally dire but well received.

Saw them at The Electric Ballroom , Camden Town. It was after their well-known albums, I think, and their energy seemed to be waning.
It was a sort of World Music/Wild West show, supported by a Tex Mex band, a reggae guy 'toasting' and faux reggae backing singers. All the comings and goings on stage made the show a bit clunky.

Might have seen them at the Boro Rock Garden, but the mists of time...

One of those bands that by the time I could get to see them I didn't want to anymore. That said I had two odd encounters with them in 1984, at the time I was earning a bit of a living as a roadie and often went to gigs just for the fun of it and sharing the rider. I was at an Alarm gig in Leeds having a post sound check beer when someone ran in shouting about coming outside to see what was going on. Strolled out and there busking in front of the queue was the all new Mick/Topper less version of The Clash! Turned out their new management thought it would be a good idea with stuff going on in the music press about The Alarm being compared negatively to them. What they hadn't checked was the fact that the head of both bands agency was at the gig, so was spitting feathers about them being there without him knowing and he was also The Alarms manager! Whole thing ended up a total mess with The Clash leaving without anyone knowing what the point of it all was. Few months later I was at the Leadmill in Sheffield with them, I'd missed the soundchecks and was asking what the support band "Real Westway" were like, they all sort of chuckled and reckoned we'd like them. About ten minutes later, said support band turned up and I was introduced to Mick Jones and Don Letts! Great gig, and the support band went on to do quite well under a different name!

One of those bands that I feel like I ought to like but I just don't. They do nothing for me. And I love most of the music from that era. I'm not really sure what or why it is but they just leave me cold. I have a similar thing with The Who.

I was at the Victoria Park RAR gig, also saw them in Manchester at Belle Vue and the Electric Circus. TBH I only began to really appreciate them later after Sandinista! and Black Market Clash
