Diana Ross

I think she’s still sounds ok to be fair - no one’s going to sound as good as their peak when they’re nearly 80

Looks better than she sings. so off key it's painful to listen to absolutely dreadful. Waiting for Jo whiley to come on afterwards and tell me how good Diana Ross was

So who's the best singer Paul or Diana? At least Paul looked as though he cared and was enjoying himself.
I also don't like the American Las Vegas style walk off in the middle of a song.

This is one of her great performances.
[1964]
20 years old.
Black and white TV.
Mono recording.
Beehive hairstyles.
Directional Microphones.
Racial segregation still meant Diana and the Supremes were barred from performing at "white" venues - especially in the south.

She had one hell of a voice at her peak mind, no doubt about it

It was when she was exposed and singing alone it was really apparent. Whoever arranged the music made sure she was covered by the girl at the end in the four backing singers, just 3 singing harmonies and one girl singing in unison with her. The backing vocals were in there most of the time in every song Good job…it could have been worse. She wasn’t the best singer in the Supremes and wasn’t the lead singer in the beginning. She only got the lead vocal job because her and Berry Gordy, the Motown label owner, had a thing going. Well, so the story goes.
