Mr Derek was the first of Basil's straight men I remember.

I could be wrong, but I thought it was Rodney Bewes before Mr Derek, when Basil had his own show that is.

He also showed up on the David Nixon show regularly.

On a related note, I remember seeing a Shakespeare production at Newcastle Theatre Royal a few years ago. I recognised one of the minor cast members and checked my programme. Sure enough, it was Roy North - Mr Roy!
