Derby

Think they are about to be bought by this Abu Dhabi group so it’s a case possibly that Morris doesn’t want to put further cash into the Club. Strange if true as it does run them the risk of points deduction - although knowing Derby they probably have already been given the FA nod of approval.

Instant transfer embargo under FL rules.
Not that they have any cash - or anything left to sell:)

Hi Cardiff.
Been following this Rams takeover story closely - its been in doubt on/off for months and theres no certainty. Derby fans are very confused and angry - Mel isnt flavour of the month anymore.
Sounds like the club have finally hit the buffers - unfortunately Derby Technical Centre and the Works disappeared long ago....
What a sad state football is in!

If that is the case it is do or bust then. Personally I still think the takeover is about to happen but you may be right and Derby are about to crash on the rocks. But yes you are correct - football below the PL is in a parlous state of affairs

Derby County are hoping a takeover of the club can be completed this week.

Completion of the deal would then see those players and senior staff who have not been paid in full for December, paid, as DerbyshireLive reported on Sunday.

Now Sky Sports is reporting that Derby's chief executive Stephen Pearce today told the first-team squad the club cannot currently afford to pay the players their outstanding wages from December, but they are working to address the problem.

It is now two months since the club announced that a deal had been agreed 'in principle' to sell to Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited, whose ultimate controlling entity is Bin Zayed International LLC, owned by Sheikh Khaled Zayed Bin Saquer Zayed Al Nayhan.

In December, the club and Bin Zayed International issued a joint statement assuring supporters that the takeover is "on track" with a view to completion before Christmas.

That did not happen, but the message from the club on Christmas Eve said the delay was nothing to be concerned about.

Fans have become increasingly frustrated by the delay, but sources at the weekend said that the deal is done and all closing conditions precedent have been satisfied and met.

* The Telegraph appears to have stepped away from being inquisitive about the take over deal - DCFC has become like a fish tank in the local take-away: looks attractive from the outside, but doesnt look very pretty when you get up close. *

I dont know or have read alot from the derby fans other than the gloating nobbers on here who seemed quite proud of how morris was running them. I know gibbo got alot of stick for pointing it out. were they all behind morris?

Im no fan of theirs - but I know of couple of fellas who have been season ticket holders for thirty odd years - and their families are likewise afflicted - and they aint happy.

Their club has bought and thought above itself for decades.

Derby fans know that Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, Bombardia an Toyota are all in spitting distance of Derby County - and would much prefer one of those billion pound concerns to invest - not some dodgy tyrants son.

Derby is a comparatively well off financial oasis in a low wage deprived desert in the East Midlands. Derby per capita has an income double Nottingham and a little less than that over Leicester.

They could be a force to be reckoned with, but their club, unlike their ground, is still in the dark ages. They talk of Cloughie and how great they were [rightly so] under his stewardship. Them an Trees are in the same boat when it comes to living off history.

Despite all his faults [and there are enough] all I can say is THANK GOODNESS FOR STEVE GIBSON!.
