Derby County - In The Red?

I don't know if any of you read Fly Me To The Moon fanzine - but we have a columist who loves delving into the books of our opponents - what he found at Derby was really interesting and perhaps the layer upon layer of company changes is deliberately trying to throw the EFL of the scent Derby: In The Red? Oops - I put the wrong link in 1st time - just edited it now.

I managed to attach the wrong link - first time around - so at least it gave me a couple of lessons in how to edit and change links and also made me realise how bad I am at looking at two forums at the same time. As bad as Derby County, perhaps. Or should that be, Gellaw Newco 202 or maybe Gellaw Newco 204.

Perfectly legit...

Surely that house of cards cannot survive another season without promotion (which they are not going to get)? Reading that and understanding maybe 25% of it, the sheer arrogance of calling the companies "newco 202" is frankly taking the ****.

I'm no financial wizard, but on the face of it, creating these new companies with only a digit change in their name seems like a very dodgy practice. On the face of it, it looks like one of those schemes that you here about where monies are shifted through loads of offshore accounts in order to hide where it came from.
The fact that some owners think it's a good idea to do this sort of jiggery-pokery should alert the football authorities that there is an environment that encourages such practices and that they should change that environment rather than play catch-up trying to catch clubs.
With escalating wages and the riches on offer in the PL is it any wonder that clubs will stretch themselves and find creative ways to circumvent the rules to try and get a piece of the PL pie?

I agree with the OP and echo his views.
But it seems Mel Morris is a Media luvee as you can’t turn the radio or TV without someone waxing lyrical about him.

You’d think this day and age with accountants being taken to court for their actions and their financial diligence that any “jiggery pokery” would be difficult to get away with.
Derby's accountants are called Smith Cooper. Not one of top ten firms.

I hope the EFL find them guilty, I really do. Fingers crossed the EFL have the right people to understand the full ins and outs of those accounts.

I’d love to hear Jim White reporting on Mel Morris, Derby and a points deduction.

They should’ve had a points deduction for calling off that Cardiff game a few years ago as well.

They announced a takeover - but the potential new owners are certainly dragging their feet.
derby forum takeover thread
warning - its's stretched to 467 pages so anyone clicking on this might want to click to the last page.
Getting dicked by Rotherham 3-0 (who does that???) has put them back in a dangerous position.

Took me a few tries to realise that this thread was from January last year, which explained why the link wouldn't open....
