Derby County Friend or Foe

I have been posting on this web site and its predecessor for about 30 years. I remmeber when Boro and Derby fans had a great relationship. When both teams were in the running for promotion the ideal both sets of fans wanted was to see both clubs go up together. A large part of that special feeling the 2 sets of fans had involved Blondie DFC and her long struggle with cancer.

Now Derby seems to have become the club Boro fans hate the most., and I understand why How times have changed.

My participation on fmttm for 30 years is the reason why I resent being described as a New Member. I was posting on the predecessor site before many of today's prolific posters were in nappies. Give me a break. I don't post often now. (I am 81 years old): I am like a retired Professor who has been reassigned to Kindregarte. .

Strange reason to feel resentful. A description on a messageboard. Relax And enjoy the new board. You are right though. Blondie was a big friend of the Board for many years and hope she is ok. Must be very unhappy with the performance of her beloved Rams.

There is a bitterness towards certain clubs that has arisen on here over the last few years, Burnley being one I struggle to understand, Bournemouth another. The Derby sentiment is in the same bracket.

Maybe it's just prolific posting from a few posters who have a particular axe to grind with regards to these clubs I'd consider to be in a similar boat to us, not going to be challenging for honours regularly.

I think there could be a touch of the green eyed monster involved once a team gets a little decent coverage.

It only means new on this new platform... and it soon changes to just being a member. Certainly not worth being too cheesed off about.

As for Derby County, amongst other things I think it's been some of their dodgy FFP dealings in recent years that has put people off them hasn't it?

I don't think anyone pays too much attention to member status or total number of posts, we're all Boro fans (well, apart from the pretend Derby ones!).

I think of this place like a local pub (without the booze). You have the usual array of characters, some are happy to sit quietly in the corner and eavesdrop on other conversations, just piping up occasionally. Others have something to say about anything and everything, while some only get involved in conversations that interest them.

There are regulars who are part of the furniture that almost everyone recognises. Others just pop in occasionally for a swift half (often when they should be at work!). All walks of life are here, just so long as everyone washes their hands after having a wazz and there are no punch ups at chucking out time, it'll all be fine (oh, and don't p*** off the landlord or the bouncers or you'll be barred!) 😜

It’s definitely that in the case of Derby (plus the Gibson dispute), and hence why it’s quite satisfying watching them fail. Envy is just part and parcel of football, as is goading your rivals when it all goes wrong.

I think what the OP needs to understand that the member status is issued on number of posts on this site. I am sure the regulars of years gone by recognise your username so don’t worry to much about it and get posting on here.

I hate Derby County and I will continue to do so. Cheating scum

What have we had to be envious of, it's not as if they're tearing the Premier League apart?
The fact that they were spending big and at one point they looked like they were going to waltz in the Premier League. The fact they’re now going in the exact opposite direction is satisfying after the way some of their fans boasted (on social media) about the chairman’s approach.

For me it's more Mel Morris, his blatant disregard for the rules and the fact that since he appeared he's been a complete media whore that makes me hate Derby. I actually don't mind the club or fans.

Perhaps my feelings will mellow once he leaves the scene (and once they spend a season or two in league one as karma for being dirty cheats! 😉).

It doesnt matter if you are 18 or 118.
Everyone who has something to add is welcome.

The issue between Derby County and the Boro stems from Mel Morris describing our Chairman as "bitching" and denying any wrong-doing regards Financial Fair Play.

Added to the adolescent "goading" by their "fans" - they are like a fly in a space suit: irritating.

Im sure they will all be happy when the cousin of the Man City owner arrives with oil money from the Middle East.
No doubt they will be Champions League Winners within 5 years!

Good luck to them: after last nights performance, they will be playing Southend and Colchester Utd next season!

The OP has been here since July and posted only 5 times, why take so long to bring their status up. I really don't look at the status of a poster unless they bring it up.

Come on guys, you've got to update this fellas status. He's been posting for 30 years! That's a good three years before the internet even began! #legend

Sounds very familiar to me. We've even got the same ground

Their fat old Burberry wearing Neanderthals come up to Boro hell bent on trouble.... and that trouble consists of them walking in a group to the stadium, gesturing and making idle threats and pretending they've 'done us over'.... It's about as scary as my nan.

You forgot to add Middlesbrough to the list.
