Derby’s 9 point deduction.

That punishment is still to Come. Under EFL rules, clubs that are found guilty of breaching FFP can negotiate the punishment so both sides agree and to stop lengthy appeals.

The maximum penalty is - 30 points. Its understood that the club and the EFL agreed to - 12 points (9 this season and 3 next) this wasn't signed of when Morris put the club into administration so now the negotiations between EFL and administor continue to agree punishment.

The punishment for FFP is a complete joke as described above in Anterimus post. It needs to be more concrete and teams gaining promotion after flouting it shouldn't be allowed to escape punishment. Too many are willing to take the gamble and hope for the safety of the PL.
It should just be automatic relegation.

Applied when you are in the league, so if Villa or Wolves came down they'd automatically drop into League 1 and an extra team would be promoted.

It should be black and white and applied as quickly as possible, not drag on for three years every time going to appeals, arbitration and panels where the club try to settle with the FA for a lesser penalty.

You have deliberately cheated over the course of a season to gain an advantage over other clubs, the punishment for that should be you are punted out of the league.

What I don't get is these clubs deliberately flaunt the rules, blatant cheating, then get the opportunity to 'negotiate' with the authorities over the punishment.

Ridiculous! It would be like me getting done for speeding and then saying, 'I'll settle for a £20 fine with £10 deferred for a year, what do you say?'

And now Derby are trying to negotiate the standard 12 point deduction for entering administration!

I think I would let them play the game until we know their fate. so if they are almost certain to go down from the 12 points then hold the nine points till next season, or if they look like surviving despite the 12 points then hit them with the 9 this season. As Sunderland have found out, if you end up in tier 3 for a couple of seasons it can become very difficult to escape.

It can work both ways this delaying.

As a side note, they also have another 3 point deduction pending if they fail to pay they players wages at any point this season.

'As Sunderland have found out, if you end up in tier 3 for a couple of seasons it can become very difficult to escape.' And Leeds, Wolves and Sheff U in recentish times

You know I really can't work myself up to give a **** about derby cheating.
There's a line in apocalypse now that says charging Kurtz with war crimes is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.
The wages that footballers are paid and the ever increasing cost of eating at the top table are what get my ire.
I think utd, Chelsea, city, arsenal and Liverpool are the villains, and anyone who trys to cheat their way to the top league for their day in the sun, good luck to you.

Strong talk down here that the 12 point deduction for entering administration will remain despite their appeal and the penalty for breach of FFP will only be another 3 point deduction. So minus 15 for this season with the further 3 points still hanging over them if they fail to pay wages at any point.

No talk weather there is any further point deduction for the FFP breach carrying over to next season which, was a possibility.

I know it's irrational, but I'd love Derby to go down. And then to stay down like Sunderland have done.

I don't want them to go bust. I don't dislike the fans, I just dislike Derby County! Cheating, stadium copying, Derby County! :D

The fans were very vociferous about Gibson's official complaint, and plenty of vitriol was dished out towards him.........even though his complaints were and remain to be 100% legitimate. So f*ck them. Hope they stay down and indeed do a Sunderland 🤞🤞

what's killing them more than anything is the limit on being able to sign players, only frees, a limited squad size and wages no higher than today, so one out one in, but no wage increase.

They haven't won in 7 games, the early season strong defence is starting to fall apart no cleansheet in 6, and the attack is anemic only scoring more than 1 goal twice (Curtis Davies is the top scorer). They're 9 points behind safety, before any additional punishment, but even if they didn't have the points off they'd still be heavily in the mire they would have dropped over the last few weeks to just 6 points above Hull and down to 20th place.

Next two games, Bournemouth and Fulham.

If they don't get reinforcements in january then they'll drop, even if the points were given back, I'd still have them favourites for the drop with this squad for the rest of the season. I can't see how they can get reinforcements though as it'll put them at breach of FFP again because of the years of cheating
