Depp court case against the Sun

I think it's excellent he's standing up to the Sun - who labelled him a 'wife beater' How many would ask their ex-wives to give testimony as to their character?
it will be really interesting to see how the judge decides on the case.... reading these reports I know which actors testimony I'm believing more..

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53419113 - they rowed like school children

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53472114 - Heard: 'threatened to kill me many times'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53429571 - ..was never violent to me, says ex-partner Winona Ryder

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53489105 - Elon Musk offered actress '24/7' security

Today's instalment does not read well for one of them, the term pathological liar seems very apt....

I wouldn’t normally be interested, and assumed he’d probably belted her. But I’m abroad for a spell and have the time to read the press, you know I suspect he’s a nice guy and hasn’t done it.

Verdict will be fascinating.

There’s enough angry bitter people in the world who are prepared to make up rubbish for attention or for monetary gain.

I have an ex with a significant personality flaw. She has recently raised some money claims against me based on an absolute pack of lies Saying I owe her all sorts when it was in the fact the other way round, she owed me thousands. The lies are appalling and Ridiculous, thankfully I have plenty of evidence to prove I’m the wronged one, though shes made up abuse claims on top to try and force the issue. Again thankfully I have plenty of witnesses that can state she was always the aggressor in any arguments. Reading up on the case it all seems very familiar to me.

I think having two ex's give good character ref for him is a massive plus & the fact that independent witnesses are giving testimony that contradicts her narrative does not help... & maybe why they've called two extra witnesses of hers today...

People can be vindictive, doesn't relate to their gender...

Really interesting to see how the judge rules on this one...

This is an awful contrast - taken from Women's Aid
"From April 2014 to March 2017, 73% of victims of domestic homicides (homicides by an ex/partner or family member) were women. This contrasts with victims of non-domestic homicides, where the majority of victims were male (88%) and 12% of victims were female (ONS, 2018)."
But am in no way taking sides in the court case - just responding to Randy. All domestic voilence is terrible.

A lot of domestic abusers come across as “a nice guy” etc in social circles but is a different person behind closed doors. A element which leads to women (or men) not being believed by others who know the abuser or the thought they won’t be believed. It seems the posters on this thread have made their mind up

I think they've made their mind up based on the evidence and clear lies that his ex wife has given during the trial, I don't think anyone made their mind up because he seemed "a nice guy".

It's pretty hard not to come to a provisional judgement about Amber Heard, based on the evidence presented so far.

Agreed all domestic violence is abhorrent. Hopefully this case persuades more men to speak up about what happens to them.

Does that differ much from a couple you know and the bloke is the salt of the earth. His wife makes these “crazy” accusations about him. Do you believe someone has suffered domestic abuse unless they have concrete proof? Also what if the judge rules in favour of the sun, will you change your opinion?

I don’t get why both parties have had to air their dirty laundry in public.

It should have been a quick hearing, what evidence did the Sun have to proceed with the allegations?

If the court aren’t provided with any judgement should be in favour of Depp.

I am totally against these type of articles anyway, where is the public interest?

It’s just salacious tittle tattle. No need for it and no good can come from it. It also undermines the work of agencies engaged with domestic abuse.

Have you looked at the reported evidence?
