Deli Alli returns to Everton

Deli Alli is set to return to Everton to have an injury assessed. Alli, who hasn't played since the end of February was banished from the Besiktas first team after the manager was unhappy with his commitment.

I am not sure how this lad regains the form he previously showed and that earned him 37 England caps. He's going to have to drop down a division or two and show those around him a little more commitment.

It is unbelievable that his transfer from Spurs to Everton could have risen to £40 million if certain performance benchmarks were met. The first £10 m is due after he makes 20 first team appearances for Everton. I can't see Spurs getting that money.

Its been a dramatic downturn for him. Remember how well he played with Kane at Spurs.
Would like to see him get back into form though.

A 26 year-old player, hyped like crazy as a youngster but now left on the scrap-heap following a failed loan spell. His own club don't want him, and will probably stick him in with the kids and hope someone will take him on a free.

I don't think anyone has ever come back from something like that...

There is nothing so sure that there is/was a player in there and fully deserved some of the accolades he received but something has gone drastically wrong.

He's still only 26 and yet he's made 37 appearances for his country but hasn't played international football since 2019. If he had been playing at the level which got him capped, he could easily be on 60-plus England caps.

He's now been hounded out of three clubs through his poor attitude. I wonder if one day he regret wasting such a good talent or be happy with the little he's achieved.

I’d love to see him come back from it but there seems to be either a total lack of motivation or a serious mental health issue. He went from two time young player of the year and regular starting England international to being virtually written off in a couple of seasons when he should have been approaching his prime. Chuba has shown what the right coach and mindset can achieve in a very short time so I wouldn’t rule it out completely but I can’t see a way back for him now. I hope he can live out his life happily once his career is over. It could be a real challenge for him if he doesn’t find something to get out of bed for each day.

I saw some stat about the number of games he had played compared to others of similar ages and it is quite substantial. He might have just played too much too early.

Should go back to MK Dons and will hopefully play every week there and he can see whether he gets that competitive desire back. If not, then he might as well just quit and go and do something else. Got plenty of money to invest in a TikTok Dance School or something

I don’t think it is simple as that, and as silentProf suggested, they might be mental health issues that are impacting his wellbeing. I hope not.

MC would sort him out,
You’d like to think so….wouldn’t you ? 🤔
That said, am I correct in thinking that Delli plays in the very same position/areas that chuba does ?
They play deeper and get goals from deep positions whilst also building up the play from deeper areas 🤔
Delli only gets a game for us if chuba is injured (!)

To be fair, I wouldn’t be against a low cost deal / loan for next season if we don’t go up and get an offer we can’t refuse for Chuba. He was showing signs of getting back to his best a couple of months ago, I think his last start he scored and got man of the match but the Manager dropped him straight after when his preferred player was back.
