Dele Ali

Whatever happened to him? Might be worth a punt in the January window. Still only 26!
Can't imagine him doing it in the championship either. Once someone has lost it to that extent it's a hard one to reverse.
He was genuinely excellent for a period too, a clear first choice for England and wanted by Madrid. I can only assume it's in his head, either lack of interest or other problems

Jose Mourihno at Spuds seemed to be the kiss of death for him.
Something has gone badly wrong somewhere and he is plummeting.
Mourinho actually tried to get him going. There’s a conversation during the Spurs Amazon documentary capturing the moment.

Mourinho says something about his meteoric rise and how he could easily fall if he isn’t careful.

What is unusual is that he came through the lower leagues and these types of players normally don’t have the ego and attitude of the prem academy ones as they know the struggle to get to the top. Look at some one like Ian wright etc

But for whatever reason he just doesn’t seem focussed and seems more about the image of being a pro football than the reality.

As Make no mistake he should not only have been in that England squad this winter he should have been starting. But the reality is his career has completely fell off a cliff. If he couldn’t get his mojo back under lampard at Everton then you have ask questions.

His contract was doubled in 2016 and then doubled again in 2018. That's the problem...

If I was 20-22 years old, making £100,000 per week, living the life... I think I'd find it difficult to keep my head/motivation/whatever it is he's clearly lost too.
It's going to happen more and more with younger players in the future.

It must be really difficult to go out in every training session and game and pretty much start from scratch to prove yourself over and over and over again

That mental fortitude to want to improve every day is probably what separates the very best players from the rest.

I'm pretty sure once I was set for life I may well get a bit fed up of the whole professional athlete thing so I can understand if that is the case with Dele Ali.

If you coast in most jobs you can get away with it, if you coast as a professional sportsperson then it is going to be very noticeable.

But that is my point as he hasn’t always had this as I’d imagine his early days at MK dons were no picnic esp compared to say the vaunted privelllaged life at spurs.

So unlike many in the game he has seen both sides of the coin.

I agree, but the coin got turned too quickly.

Jamie Vardy didn't start making 100k per week till he was 29. Ali was making it at 21.

I'd take him in a heartbeat, away from the bright lights he'd be fine 👍

In fact there's a place for rent near me in Park End 👍

Not much to do on a Thursday night to get you into trouble round here 👍

Unless he fancies an off road bike and hanging round the Happy Shopper.....?

Thanks 👍

Wouldn't go anywhere near him.

I hope he gets back on track, but he's had plenty of chances already.
