DAZN to break 3pm watershed in EFL

I think it's a very dangerous idea getting into bed with DAZN. They've handed back rights in a few countries for football and I wouldn't trust that they'd pay the full terms of the contract. Could easily lead to another ITV Digital situation for the EFL.

Not sure I'd say they were breaking the 3pm rule though as the only way they'd show games at that time in this country is if its amended which it looks as though the EFL will press for it to be removed.

A market, really? I have little enough interest in watching the Premier League unless it’s a particularly attractive fixture. EFL games not involving the Boro are pretty much alongside grass growing and paint drying.
But that is the market that you as a Boro fan would buy our games you were not attending
Same for all other EFL teams.

It’s quite ridiculous what’s going on with Pay per view especially here in the US as you end up having to subscribe to several different channels just to keep up with live coverage— it’s just becoming a total rip off.

As for DAZN, I got a freebie back in 2020 but I didn’t really reckon much to it. Ok it had snooker and darts but I thought the boxing coverage was crass which is supposed to be its signature sport.

So long as we dont have silly kick off times just for Tele.
You know: Swansea v Boro at noon on a Sunday.....
Bad enough sodding about moving games every week.
No thought for fans,
just £££££$$$$$(n)

could be a positive if they need to move less games about for TV could actually have more games 3:00 pm and not getting moved about to suit tv and ruining supporters plans, although knowing TV companies they will still be putting TV viewers a head of the fans that attend the games!

That’s what I meant, I expect 95% of people who want to watch 3pm kick offs are watching online anyway. They might as well just get rid of the rules and let them be shown on tv, let the league cash in and it would give the pubs a huge boost as well no doubt
I hadnt discovered the use of a VPN proppa till this season. It really helps if you cant get a ticket for the away games. We just dont get enough away tickets, so I`de sooner pay the club £10 to watch it live (y)

what does the brand DAZN stand for?
DAZN is all about putting fans first and putting decisions back into their hands. The name itself is pronounced “Da Zone” and is focused on bringing fans ‘into the zone’ so they can enjoy a variety of content at an affordable

You can fûck right off with your da zone

It wouldn’t stop me from going to games but I’d sign up for away games, if it follows a similar model to iFollow?
Nothing like I follow it’s more like sky sports but showing games at 3pm they want the rights to them all,to every game at 3pm so it’s a saturation model not the ala carte ppv of I follow this will break that model.

That’s the point

I'm watching every match anyway, wouldn't change much for me beyond presumably making it more expensive and removing the need for a VPN.

Surely Ondigital tried the whole mass market EFL live games model? strangely, Leyton orient v Rochdale doesn't bring in that many punters!

Broadcasting them at 3 o'clock would make that model any more sustainable.
