A question I’ll probably regret - I had the vaccine yesterday so I’m feeling a bit funny perhaps a political post will take away the pain:)

can anybody explain why he doesn’t come in for more abuse. I see the likes of Priti Patel, Cummins stir up absolute hatred and anger in some people yet slick Dave seems to get off relatively Scott free. I appreciate those two mentioned have done bad things but in comparison I find his behaviour disgusting.

personally I think he’s a po faced arrogant twit! His rap sheet includes bringing the referendum for his own political ends which has ruined and split the country down the middle. Then skulked off into the shadows with minimum abuse to then get involved in this lobbying saga and god knows what else that we don’t even know about. For me those two alone are enough for him to get pelters on this board yet I don’t see much criticism of him.

Any ideas? Like I say I ll probably wish I never asked but I am genuinely curious.

Disclaimer: I am in no way defending the other two.

I think he is in exactly the same horrible boat as those two, its just that he has a slightly thicker micro-veneer of appearing to care what people think.

Because he had the good sense to b***r off when he messed up and has kept a relatively low profile since ?

Simply put he is out of the firing line.

I think the Lansley reforms were awful and impacted significantly on NHS services in the early parts of this conservative government. He was quietly taken from the firing line and replaced with Hunt. Lansley rarely gets discussed now.

It's all just games to them.

Because this is how the Conservative Party operates.

The whole charade doesn't work unless they can slag him off and pretend like they are the 'new broom'. They implemented austerity, with all the cabinet cheering it on - and now it's politically inconvenient they are the ones to reverse it.

Ultimately, the whole load of them have their noses in the trough and always have done. The only thing that makes Cameron different is that he made the mistake of getting caught.

I think he has the same advantage which also protects Bunter in that his working career was spent in the media circles and the journalists do like to look after their own.

Dave got absolute pelters at the time of the EU ref loss, especially when he resigned. Good for him though is Brexit was so much of a mess and shambles that the narrative quickly forgot about him and he could then spend some time trying to get his nose buried deeper in the private sector trough.

Rest assured though this recent turn of events has ruined his reputation.

Its a question of degrees, I guess, as bad as Cameron was, and lets not pretend he was anything beyond awful, he was still better than what followed, he was at least competent at carrying out policy, however flawed that was, but his vanity and to an extent his loyalty to Osborne, cost him dearly with the calamity of Brexit, the Scottish Indy Ref gave him a belief in his own cult to push through the Brexit vote which ultimately caused the schism from which the country is still to move on from, in part it was a succession ploy that massively backfired and ultimately caused what he was trying to avoid, Johnson as PM.

And then there's his really weird negotiating technique which served him so well when he was trying to get a better deal with the EU.

When Prime Minister David Cameron is giving an important speech, or in the midst of difficult negotiations, he relies on a simple mental trick known as the full bladder technique. The name is not a metaphor. Cameron drinks lots of liquid and then deliberately refrains from urinating, so that he is “desperate for a pee.” The Prime Minister believes that such desperation comes with benefits, including enhanced clarity and improved focus.
