“The central defender is a free agent after leaving Middlesbrough at the end of June, and his availability is believed to interest Steve Cooper.

“Swansea’s head coach is keen to add an experienced central defender to his ranks this summer, and 29-year-old Ayala certainly fits the bill on that score.

“The fact he is a free agent is also likely to interest Swansea’s hierarchy, with Cooper having admitted that Swansea will not be spending any money in the summer transfer window as he reshapes his squad ahead of the new season.

Theyve got no money.
They are [like us] not going to splash out on players.
If he goes there I wonder if he could demand what we paid him?
I wish him well, but he might find the bargaining power is not in his court......or his agent.

Why do you wish him well,in comparison to others?

He is no different to the average footballer, he will sign for the highest value contract. Loyalty is to his family first and foremost, which is fair enough really. We would mostly all do the same. Gutted he has left, but he has to do what is best for him and his family

I did do, but after he way he left I think he Soured his history at the club as make no mistake he walked out on us knowing we were as good a down.

I’ll admit that shocked me as I thought he was better than that, but it seem I was wrong.

I agree he's blotted his copy book with the way he handled his departure. If we get back to full stadiums and he returns to the Riverside he's gone from getting a good reception/round of applause from me to a shrug of ambivalence.

When people realise that 'the modern footballer' doesn't really give a toss about that kind of thing in fact will probably be quite amused

I wish him well - 90% of the time he was brilliant for us, 5% of the remaining 10% time he was just very good, and 4 of the next 5% he held the defence together on his own.

every 100 games he had a stinker - probably the best value for performance money we spent on buying him over the past 12 seasons.
He's not a Boro player anymore so who gives a monkeys?

Gone right off him from the last 6 months.

Will clap him if he comes back as opposition, but I don't particularly wish him well.
