Dani Ayala linked with Middlesbrough's Championship rivals Swansea City

12 pence = 1 shilling
20 shillings = 1 pound
Therefore 240 pennies = 1 pound
So we had to do sums like.
What change would you get from £1 if you bought 2 pints of milk 7d each a loaf of bread for 1s 3d 3 bananas at 4d each a mars bar for 5d some persil for 2s 5d and a pair of stocking for 9d. d = pence obviously.

No calculators we didn't have them

You dont have to tell me lad I know.

I remember getting a 10/- note for my tenth birthday.
I used to get a tanner for chopping firewood for my Great Grandad on a Saturday morning and a shilling from taking the pop bottles back to the offie(y)

We used to soak old pennys in vinegar in a saucer - and they came out shiny as new.
It was great finding an old Victorian penny - still got some somewhere:giggle:(y)

I got a guinea for my weekly paper round
7 mornings
7 Gazettes
And a sports round at 6.30 on a Saturday

If the rumours are true, he pretty much downed tools in Jan when he couldn’t force his move and refused to play ever since. I can’t imagine Swansea or Birmingham City really represent the big money move he was after. Wouldn’t be surprised if he could have stayed with us on a better contract than what he’ll be offered elsewhere as things currently stand.

I wish him well - 90% of the time he was brilliant for us, 5% of the remaining 10% time he was just very good, and 4 of the next 5% he held the defence together on his own.

every 100 games he had a stinker - probably the best value for performance money we spent on buying him over the past 12 seasons.
Wow, I never rated him that highly. After the promotion I think it was more like 1 in 5 he had a stinker, maybe in 10. Not 1 in 100! In my opinion anyway. He was a good player for us though.

When people realise that 'the modern footballer' doesn't really give a toss about that kind of thing in fact will probably be quite amused

I don't think that's the case in the slightest. People have differing personalities. A player like Adam Clayton would probably be gutted if he got a bad reception when he came back.

He played well for us and always give his best. The Premiership was a step too far, but very good at Championship level especially under AK.

Players normally have to accept a pay cut when have new contract and they have turned 28 and in Danny's case have a poor injury record.

A great signing in terms of being pound for pound. 375k.....we more than had our moneys worth.

He was a decent champo CB. I would loved for him to have stayed and who knows many played alongside Gibson again. He's been injury prone and of course would have needed massively reduced terms.

I will still applaud him when he returns👍. I can think of many (Rudy) who came and made a fortune at the clubs expense. He's one of many who I wouldnt show any gratitude. I would hope Danny and Clayton would be welcomed back.

The ending was poor. If he had just played in those final games he could have left in higher estem.

Good player Ayala when he's fit, which if you look at his career stats is about 50% of the time

You give him a contract your effectivley paying him 2 weekly wages for every game he plays
