Dan Barlaser

Must admit I thought he lacked the anticipation and positional awareness off the ball to replace Howson, but was excellent today.

Just shows that Carrick knows when players are ready and when they’re not

The key to barlaser is possession based players around him .
Ball retention is key to his style.
Jones, crooks, coburn are key to his style of play.
Esp Jones... His end product isn't always great , but rarely loses it then stands still watching a counter attack middle 1/3 of the pitch.
I'd think hackney loves playing with barlaser, and vice versa.

Lovely passing today. You often spot a pass you want someone to make but the player chooses not to, probably feeling it a bit high risk.

He went for it all day today and kept nailing it. The odd one got picked off, but that desire to try and play the ball that unlocked the opposition is exactly what we need from him.

He's had a couple of good starts in today and Sunderland. A terrific passer of the ball. Always sees a pass that's 'not on'.

Hopefully continues to improve and become first choice. We've been after a longterm replacement for Howson for 3 years. That said still think Howson is our best CM on his day.

I think Howson will expect much less game time this year. That said still important around the place and even coming off the bench.

Another superb performance. One small error, but otherwise flawless. He's key to the way we are playing at the moment and because he sits deep, he allows Hackney to maraude a bit more. There'll be a couple of the resident know alls along to tell us he's not very good shortly I'm sure. He gives the back 4 an out ball, and they can give it to him because he finds space, doesn't panic when pressed, and can always slip a nice pass away.

His threading of the play at times was premier league, he can only go from strength to strength from here.

I couldn’t have been more wrong about him, top top quality today and against Sunderland. Looking like a great buy at last
