Damn you Covid/Putin/EU/Megan

I know you won’t stop but am not sure who you are trying to convince on here. There is a collective intransigence of views on here. If anybody who voted for Brexit has changed their minds they won’t admit it or refuse to admit it and certainly not on here.

Clear to see it’s been pretty much a disaster and everything “project fear” warned at the outset has come to or will come to pass.

And this is the major problem isn't it? What is wrong with people. It's OK to admit you were conned, it's OK to admit you made a mistake. The brexiteers on here who double down, in the face of overwhelming evidence against brexit or just making themselves look silly. More importnantlyy they are prolonging the economic slide of the country by ensuring Politicians don't dare touch the problems of brexit because of the brexit means brexit crowd. It's a very serious and real problem to our country. The ridiculous thing is, those whose bloodymindedness is destroying the country believe themselves to be the patriots

Problem is, for some it’s not clear to see at all. They just put it down to whinging ‘remoaners’ while wrongly thinking it doesn’t impact them at all. Out of sight, out of mind.
There is a balance to be found, but I do think the impacts need to be pointed out so people can judge whether it’s worked out as promised, for themselves. If nothing else other than so people can see how easily we can all be manipulated to vote against their best interests by big personalities and misinformation.
That said, ridiculing, antagonising, name calling, abusing Brexit voters, labelling them as thick has achieved nothing and will continue to achieve nothing. It’s definitely not the way to go and only causes further division. Which actually plays right into the hands of the right wing mob who are the architects of Brexit. It’s such a difficult topic to discuss online.

it really is clear though. As the phrase goes, there's none so blind as those that will not see"

Did you believe you were being patriotic when you voted for the 'Get Brexit Done' party ?
No, he thought he was doing the right thing (I disagreed) since then it appears he’s reassessed and realised it was a not the right thing to do.
His point in this thread seems to be that if you don’t face up to your mistakes you can’t correct them. As mistakes go Brexit is a big un, and the sooner we start correcting it the better for all.

Exactly this. Thanks I couldn’t put it quite as succinctly

I agree completely.
It’s engaging with those who fall into that category that is the real challenge - trying to find a way to highlight the reality without further upsetting and isolating them or turning them off from the topic/conversation completely.

I thought this article in The Guardian told you everything you need to know about exporting after Brexit.

When we go down to see family I go to that brewery. It is a fantastic little place and the beer is excellent. It is such a shame that Brexit has taken away its EU trade. It is a product that we should be proud to export.

"The Old Dairy Brewery in Kent – a Department for International Trade export champion for the south-east – appeared in a government video last year promoting the potential to boost Brexit export sales"

It is a shame that they fell for the koolaid and thought that there was actual potential to boost Brexit export sales. But that's what you get for being from the South East and would vote Tory even if the candidate was a pig with a blue rosette.

I did.
The worst decision I could have made. I've admitted on here before and will do so again. I was taken in by it all, and I deeply regret doing it.

Or the boyfriend of a pig with a blue rosette even….

Smalltown I know you don't like hearing it but you voted for Boris Johnson who used people like you and your votes to push through a hard brexit

I wouldn't be handing out lectures especially since your stance is brexit voters have been conned but you haven't

And if that is the case- you knew exactly what you were voting for so take responsibility and hold your hand up and say you're partly responsible

Am I right, Nobby?

👍

 Here we go again...

I'm pretty sure on a million previous threads ST has said exactly what you are asking but let's derail another...

I’ve admitted it. I wish I could go back and change my vote to remain rather than leave despite my reasons for voting leave in the first place which I still hold (and which I’ve explained many times on here so not going to again)

Or those that only read the bits that back their opinion.

"In a response to the findings, a spokesperson for HMRC told City A.M. today: “We have continually advised caution when comparing statistical trade data post-January 2021.”

He explained that “the way HMRC collects data has changed since the UK left the EU, and comparing year-on-year data can lead to misinterpretation and factual inaccuracies, which we believe is the case here.”

“In this case not only has our caution been disregarded, but the analysis only takes into account a very small subsection of overarching trade data,” the spokesperson added."
