Dael Fry

Don’t think he’s lost a header this season. I hammered him last season. He has been immense so far. Can see teams coming sniffing in January if he keeps this up bit hope we keep him. He has been magnificent.

Same. Didn't see what the fuss was about until now. Sure he could play a bit, but didn't seem great defensively. I did say in a thread last year that he might be a player who benefits more than most from Warnock coming in (so I'm claiming that as brilliant foresight).

Be great to see him adding a few goals from set pieces to his game next.

massive turn araound, love to know what has sparked the change in form, NW? or maybe lack of confidence playing with the previous management shower...

My guess is that Warnock has told him his primary job is to defend and helped him to do that. Whereas Woodgate seemed to think Fry was the second coming of Beckenbauer (described him as our best player before last season started I think). As a 22 year old struggling to reach his potential, he didn't need smoke blowing up his ****, he needed to master the basics. And fair play to him, so far job well and truly done.

Looks a different player even when in form previously never fought but now wins everything. Really good past few games looks so more condident. MOM 2 games running for me

Warnock said when on form hes the best cb in the league, destined for the prem. Its litteraly confidence. The whole team looks more rejuvenated

I think Fry had problems after he came back last season from injury and also because we weren't settled at the back, trying different combinations. We look pretty solid now , need Fletcher back to play up front with Brit/Akpom

Warnock himself said he was pleased that Fry was ‘rubbish’ back end of last season as it stoped bids coming in.
Looks immense just now

I would have sold him this summer because he was terrible last year but he’s been brilliant this year. Part of the reason I think is that he’s not being played on the left side and being asked to play the ball out because his left foot is terrible. McNair seems to be able to cope with that job but Fry couldn’t, he seemed lost last year.

I don’t think anyone can really say anything is guaranteed in football.
I remember Fry having a great play off game at Villa Park in front of 40k. He looked a natural.
Yet he stunk the place out for a few months along with most of his teammates. Yet here he is again looking great. Fair play to him for getting his **** together
