Dael Fry and Paddy McNair

It's about getting these lads to perform well consistently. They all have it in them, we have seen that in short spells, but they need to show a consistent level of performance.

I honestly think confidence is key to these lads. I can't imagine there had been much of that around the Riverside recently.

They also probably need a few leaders on the pitch to keep them on their toes instead of coasting through 90 mins.

Mcnair helped get Sunderland relegated. He is close to doing the same with us. At some point people have to demonstrate what they are bringing to the table through actual performances rather than some fans rose tinted glasses. The same goes for pretty much all our so called senior pros.
He didn’t really help them get relegated, he was out with a cruciate injury all season and then scored 3 in the last 4 games of the season when he came back. Not saying he’s worth his place in our team but he wasn’t a big part of Sunderland going down.

McNair is not very good . He makes the wrong decision too many times and wastes so many passes . How many times has he been MOM for us since he came ? None

When he leaves, nobody will care.
See also Saville, Assombolonga, Fletcher, Johnson, Shotton; like Gestede before him.
They are senior pros who should be inspiring our younger pros.

McNair, Clayton, Saville are all very similar. Limited technical ability and slow. + McNair is shockingly bad in a tackle for a such a big lad.

All can go as far as I'm concerned.

Lewis Wing has a big upside for someone that's barely been playing 3 years. In the right set up he scores goals and can open defence. But it's true he's had a poor season (but still scored more than all our midfielders combined).

Howson looks really comfortable as the deep midfielder and I'd keep him there.

Dael Fry is truly a horrific player.

To be fair to Fletcher he's got 12 goals and never really gets to play as the 9. He's always second fiddle to someone else or stuck on the left.

The only reason I'd be reluctant to sell the whole squad is the fact that we'd be relying on the recruitment team to replace them.
We do seem to have a 'meh' culture about us at the moment. The whole club needs a bomb putting under it to put some zip into things.

Also, I’m one who normally sticks up for Saville and can see positives to him but he did nothing again today and needs dropping. Can’t see anyone coming in for him though so he is one we will probably be stuck with.
I posted prior to the Millwall game that I've not seen anything of him to make me think he should be regular in the side, I stated forget about the money we paid that's not down to him & hoping he would stamp his presence in the team, unfortunately he's another of our players who wouldn't look out of place in the 82-84 team

Perhaps the existing players need to move on to refresh elsewhere, because we have a Ford Capri on bricks on the drive - which isnt going anywhere - no matter what we do with it.

We have for many seasons looked ponderous & lethargic, signing the same type of players we already have & not addressing the areas we need to cover
Woodgate came the closest to addressing this, well spoke about & then tried to buy the best from the lower leagues, which TBH, we've all been saying for a while, so far his signings haven't worked out
But when you see teams who cone here with players showing pace etc v our one pace, slow tempo football then you see how far away from a good team we are

Cheers for this bump 😂😂😂😂
🤣 Just shows how much has changed in less than a year, and what a proper manager can do. Woodgate was never cut out for management, I still can’t believe Gibson appointed him.

Bola and Dijksteel looked shocking last season, and now when fit, they’re two of the first names on the team sheet. Bola is my favourite current player, the lad is brilliant. Always has a smile on his face, full of energy, just class.

Yeah, I have said recently I wouldn’t swap fry and McNair partnership for any other in the league. They are transformed.

@Wilf has form for this type of bump though, form can change quickly and then in turn fans opinions can change quickly. I’m sure he knows that though

I’m a big believer of centre backs coming as a pair. Boam/Maddren, Southgate/Ehiogu, Charlton/Moore, Mowbray/Pallister, Vidic/Ferdinand, Bruce/Pallister etc, etc.
Fry and McNair potentially can be a good pair, just need to be at their best more consistently. I still have a sneaky feeling that Warnock has McNair in there as the best available. If he gets another CB, we may still see McNair in midfield. They were magnificent v. Norwich.

I thought Gibson and Hanley looked very good yesterday to be honest, Gibbo looked their best player never wasting a pass.

Was happy with our two too mind
