Crystal Palace Europe Issue

Surely they set a president with Girona and Man City?

They didn't miss the deadline, because the possibility of Europe for Girona was far more obvious than it was for Palace in early March.

It's pathetic that Palace have been kicked out on a technicality, but they did mess up.

Hopefully the appeal is successful.

Pretty pathetic excuse, saying we didn’t comply with the rule because we thought we were too sh1t to qualify anyway. If that’s all the case they have the appeal should be laughed out.

It's not all their case, but that's the reason they're being punished whilst bigger clubs with shared ownership have just been nodded through.

I think they'll win on appeal, because there wasn't really a controlling shared ownership to begin with, and any semblance of that shared ownership will be gone when Textor's shares are sold.

They haven't got way with it - they lodged the right papers, with the right solution, at the right time allowing them to participate

Palace haven't done that ..... that's why its a problem for them.
And now its too late

The owners fault

That's what happens when you rely on fax machines

100% Correct...The Eagle Group have had plenty of time to get this in order. The reason that Lyon got into bother was that everything that they sent to the Financial governing body was very much like a bag full of notes with IOUs on them. No physical monies in their own accounts.

Imagine in my head is Lyon sending in Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne to resolve the issue

Ridiculous decision… and embarrassing for UEFA.

They delayed and delayed hoping that the side line circus would make the decision for them as they completely bottle the big call.

Hopefully Palace gets this overturned via CAS - but god knows how long that might take.

As a side note Parish saying that he can’t imagine Forest want to be in the Europa League by these circumstances…. 😂 as if they give a fccuk haha absolute bonus for them!!

He's single handedly made Forest a very unlikeable team.
I think they’ll struggle this season without Elanga and if MGW goes. Chance that a few other will go too. Wood isn’t getting any younger either and can’t see him scoring like he did last season.

Hopefully.

Be nice if their European campaign helps send them down.

Don't mind the club, I hate the owner.

Good to see a cockney club not getting special treatment for a change after the west ham, qpr stitch ups and Arsenal mystifyingly not being picked up over partey

It’s fascinating that Palace have been kicked out of a competition due to being part of a multi-club ownership and replaced by a team also part of a multi-club ownership.

It’s absolute nonsense. It’s either allowed or it isn’t. It can’t just be allowed before an arbitrary date in March, when playing in Europe isn’t even a consideration for the vast majority of clubs on the Continent. Or if you’re insisting on it, make it mandatory for every club to complete this paperwork every summer and that way it’s done and dusted well in advance.

There has to be a deadline. What are you going to allow, satisfy the qualification requirements on the morning of the first match, by handing it to the referee two minutes before kickoff, three weeks afterwards?

There’s stories every season of seventh, eighth, ninth tier clubs missing out on a promotion or getting thrown out of a cup because the poor old gadgie who has club secretary as his part-time volunteer job has accidentally missed a deadline for getting some qualifying paperwork in. I might be a bit sorry for him. When a Premier League club finds itself in this position its difficult to have any sympathy at all.

I already posted a possible solution. Make the completion of all paperwork relating to competing in European competition the following season mandatory, and make sure it’s completed and filed before the start of the season. Any club that does not compete its paperwork before the season starts will not be eligible to play in Europe the following season, should they qualify.

This is eminently possible in the digital age.
