Crooks' goal

Good post. Was blatantly offside. Not sure why the OP couldn’t have come to the conclusion that the lino might have got it wrong
Not sure why you're just inventing your own scenario for it based on nothing instead of just accepting the linesman ballsed it up.

I refer you both back to the image...

The assistant is up with play & looking along the line, the defenders appear to be outside the six yard box, while Crooks is clearly inside the six yard box when the ball is played.

There's obviously a Blackburn player out of shot playing him on, otherwise would suggest that the official is incompetent and we know from watching Boro week in & week out how unlikely that would be in the "5th most popular league in Europe".

If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

In the last 24 hours every player has been slaughtered together with the Manager, assistant manager, coaches, owner, board, recruitment team, CEO, carpark attendant and now our actual goal.

Alright, I'll bite.

No, there isn't "obviously" anyone out of shot playing him on.

Here's the moment the pass is played in to Howson. 9 Blackburn players, two out of shot, one of which is the keeper, so we only need to find out the 11th is.

Oh look, there he is, all 11 Blackburn players accounted for, none out of shot playing him on.

So, what then? Did Blackburn have 12 players the whole time? Is that why we lost? Best get on to the FA.

eh? Your showing 8 twice, keeper & CF once each and missing out the mystery man playing Crooks on both times.

As per Sherlock Holmes...
If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

It is impossible, especially with the high quality officials that we get in the EFL week in week out, that an assistant referree up with the play, looking along the line, with an on-field reference point of the 6 yard box would get that decision wrong.

Therefore however improbably, there must be a Blackburn player playing him on. Anything else, as Vizzini is famous for saying, is "Inconceivable!".

I'm guessing you're just on the wind up, but there are 9 Blackburn players in the first image.

The missing player in that image, outside of the goalkeeper, is the one that you've marked as 2 in the second image.

There's nobody playing him onside, it's just a really bad mistake from the linesman.

Likely because of this moment:

Well after the pass, the Blackburn player slipped over and looked almost level with Crooks as he shot on goal.

Which is irrelevant, as he was miles offside when the pass was made, but that's probably how the linesman will have made the mistake.

What bait?

It’s clear from the first photo that Crooks is bouncing around in the area on his toes and is about 3 feet in the air and this is making him look 2 yards offside.

He is actually positioned directly over the line and the Blackburn defender who threw himself to the floor is playing him on.
