Craig Charles on R6

Craig Charles is a kok and doesn't know what he's on about. If anything they should give the show to someone like Sir Norman Jay, who isn't a kok and does know what he's on about.

I don't mind Lamacq, but do think his musical taste is extremely limited and his choice of new bands (Fountaines DC in particular ) are dreadful.

MAH is following in the footsteps of her idol and mentor and playing a lot of challenging music that she herself likes. Whether that's suitable for the time of slot she has is a different matter, but I do enjoy a lot of what she plays.

@goalscrounger - I used to use the Sounds app to play Lauren Laverne's breakfast show on my way to work, even though it would have been 3pm in the UK at the time, and then follow through the day with Robert Elms on BBC London for his morning show on delay too.
Yes, love the Sounds app. I use it mainly to listen to the Radcliffe and Maconie shows at my weekend breakfast time (and then to catch up on stuff like Lamacq if I want easy listening background stuff at work)

I can't listen to it since they forced Keavo off the airwaves. I bloody loved him and his show.
Quite the opposite for me, I much prefer Craig Charles. MAH is like the aunty who is determined to be "cool" but ends up being ignored by everyone. Even though she's a Mackem, Lauren Laverne is always a good listen, but it's Marc Riley who plays the best new music. OOAA.

The two replacements for Keaveny on the day time slots have improved the schedule immeasurably.

Keaveny was painfully unfunny and tried too hard.
the man is seriously in love with himself. thinks he's a stand up, thinks he's a music expert, thinks he's an over looked guitar ace, thinks he's a journalist

I like 6music when people play the good tunes and get on with it. yet again, i get into the car today and drum and bass is playing - MAFH playing far too much cack.

Where do we all stand on Chris Hawkins? Apart from his insistence on playing The Lovely Eggs all the time, I love him. Seems a genuine bloke too, can't understand why he does the graveyard shift or plays the "supply teacher" role unless that's what he prefers?

Agree, seems like a decent bloke with a passion for music. Not sure he's got the "personality" to get a regular daytime DJ slot though.

The overlooked Gideon Coe needs a mention on this thread too. Really eclectic taste, some great live concerts and I love his themed shows (Tour De France, Autumn etc). Something good to fall asleep too, something I haven't had since Mark & Lard's Graveyard shift in the early to mid 90's.

I like him because he says very little on his graveyard shift shows - just tells you what's playing. Regrettably, inane babbling and dull interviews seem to be a requirement for daytime shows and Chris Hawkins doesn't seem very comfortable with this. I'm of the 'tell me what it is, play it, tell me again, next tune' school, so I like him a lot. It's when they bring their mates in that you have to worry.

I haven't heard Chris Hawkins in ages I used to catch him on my commute, yes love his simple approach to DJ-ing.

In praise of Mary Anne Hobbs, the latest sequence of music this morning was sublime.

Johnny Marr, Nubya Garcia, Robert Plant & Allison Krauss into some ambient from Erland Cooper (spoiled slightly by a rather brutal segue into Matthew E White)

You just do not get that mix anywhere else. Big love.

Just played Killing Joke and Stiff Little Fingers back to back.....Lister will do for me on an afternoon! Would love Radcliffe and Maconie back too. Keavney always seemed better suited to breakfast. Mary Ann certainly knows her music, just can't be doing with a rave mix at 11 in the morning.

I'm starting to feel like I've had enough of Craig Charles. I quite like him as a person and the music he's playing is OK but I'm finding his show a bit much. Bring back Chris Hawkins please. But the vandalism at BBC Radio London at least means I've been properly introduced to Mary Ann Hobbs, whose morning show is great.

You see I love Craig Charles and I’ve had enough of Mary Ann Hobbs whose monotone and moribund delivery drives me to distraction.
