Cracking walk today with Mrs erimus

I went for a lovely walk yesterday tea time with the dog. Started of a St.Cuthberts church, through past Ormesby Hall, the walkway that runs adjacent to the Parkway, under the bridge that has the Whitby to Middlesbrough line above it, onto The Grove and then back into the Ormesby Hall entrance near Marton station and back to the church via the tree covered walkway. Approx 2.5 miles altogether 👌🏻

We are probably going to go for an evening walk later. I will try to take a few photos on the way around.

Hi Erimus 74, that picture of the holding tanks is a Environmental water treatment of some sort just looked it up I knew it was in the staion rd area SB.

I like the pics which are unusual. of a building or part of a building.

Cheers Ticker, I honestly had no idea, can't even remember seeing them before, thanks for the info, for a couple of miles there's so much history there

That site Dood posted Hidden Teesside is really good for little titbits of local history.
Bit of a story
My dads uncle was a money lender over the border through the 1920s 30s and 40s, he died in the early 1950s on the toilet and it took 3 blokes to carry him from the outside toilet he was 23 stone. He was known as one blonk as he fought for money as a young un and had his eye gouged out. When the bombs hit Marsh street it levelled his house, he had 2 joined together and his parlour was where he ran his business from, inside was 9 huge tins which were (over 2 foor long) full of sovereigns and the Police cordoned the buildings off..he did get them back.

His wealth carried over and did some good, his grand kids emigrated to Canada and became Doctors

There used to be a bit in the paper where it would show 1 little bit of a building in the town a door frame or something attached to it and people had to guess where it was. Do that that Erimus, bit of a cycling quiz you and Norman.

aiming to do 31 10k step days this month... ( swings round -wall planner - checks May has 31 days ) done my 10 for today... nothing too far just a very long walk to the closest shop... via massive detour to get the miles in...

Bike is busted so waiting on NRG to get back to me... (2 weeks now... a bit poor) will give a shout tomorrow.... or may just buy bits myself & fix it myself.... walking is fine so far..
