Coulson and Spence

He’s a good player so I’m not surprised in the least.

well we didn’t need him did we as we’ve got too many full backs and right sided players already 🤪

Watching Peltier get exposed down the left side time and time again mainly due to his lack of pace is frustrating. Coulson has so much more to offer than him.
Peltier had a really good game yesterday and had their winger in his back pocket the entire game. I'm concerned about his lack of pace, but his experience and positioning ability got him through the game yesterday so it's a strange time to make that point.

Djed Spence my MOTM pick today. Can tell he’s so well suited to that RWB role.

Solid defensively 1v1, plenty of presence going forward and looked to have an impressive partnership with Joe Lolley, who was also excellent.

Looks like a shrewd addition.

I noticed Neil Warnock gesturing a look of frustration toward Steve Gibson yesterday after Dijksteel went off injured. Almost like a ‘see I told you so’ Kean Bryan and Ciaron Brown we’re heavily linked but we couldn’t get them over the line. Two spaces in the squad left and shirts 3 & 5 not allocated..

I'm pretty convinced we expected either a LCB who can play fullback or both a centre half and and a left back to come in and either we pulled out as Warnock thought Samba and Peltier were sufficient. Or the deals fell through for (I'm assuming) financial reasons.

I'd also say Morsy would have given Blackpool more of a game than Howson and Siliki managed, although he could also have easily been red carded.

I think Warnock has said a deal fell through for financial reasons.

Did he give Gibson a look that intimated a sense of thanks after being allowed to sign two dozen players in a year? How can he still be short of numbers at this stage of his tenure?

And chairman could quite easily counter whatever Warnock says about a lack of defensive cover by asking why Spence and Coulson are out on loan at other clubs.

Spence and Coulson are just gonna look better and better.

Steve Gibson should have given him a why is Marcus Tavernier playing right back look, criminal to have such poor full back cover.

The issue is not letting players out on loan who have proved not to be good enough.
It is signing the wrong players as cover, or not signing enough cover.

They are unlucky that Fisher has the long term injury and that Bola has had problems, but there should have been cover signed.
I am really worried about the centre of our defence which looks so slow whoever plays.
Being exposed by a lightweight midfield and emergency full backs doesn't help.
Nor does being in front of a flappy keeper.

People criticise players who are happy to see out their contracts not playing and sitting in the reserves. And yet would hold back the careers of two young players who quite clearly want and need game time. It seems entirely sensible to send them out on loan. They improve. Their value goes up. They don't sit on the bench moaning, to the detriment of team spirit.

Sometimes you pick up a few injuries in positions. It happens and you just have to take it on the chin and do the best you can.

mclarens teams are a perfect example of how you deal with injuries. We didn't spread our wages too thin as insurance against having a few injuries. We payed out big wages to a few first team players and supplemented them with our kids. We had a few terrible injury crises in those years. And yet we still had the best few seasons in my time supporting the club. That's because the majority of wages were on the pitch rather than sitting on the bench, and the likes of downing Morrison Davies cattermole were all given game time.

you can't just have loads and loads of players. A team of 15 or 16 pros on say 1 million between them backed up by kids is better than spreading the jam too thinly over 25 players to cover every eventuality.

pointless signing quality players like payero and sporar if we cant afford to cover fullback positions. All that will happen is if they have a good season they will want to leave. All the good work in the window maybe undone by selling morsey and loaning coulson and spence. We will float along midtable at best. The areas of weakness fullbacks and defensive midfielder have to be addressed in January. I would also say grant hall is not good enough as a first team centre half either.
