Could the Saudi deal see other owners leave

We all know in business if you can’t be too dog then you normally do something else and as we have seen in formula one engine manufacturers are leaving or not coming as they can’t compete with Mercedes.

so could the hyper money the Saudis have lead to the likes of FSG Roman abramovich or even the Abu Dhabi’s to reconsider their investments as there is simply no way that they can compete so would they still put all that money to finish second or even 6th.

Wages is the key as transfers fees are around the 100 nil mark now but it really wages that get the biggest names and few clubs would break that structure. The Saudis could easily offer Kane mbappe etc 2 mil a week for instance.. then what do the rest do.

That’s the thing, everyone’s misreading the figures a bit - they’re not going to spend the entire 320bn sovereign wealth fund of the nation on Newcastle United 😂 That would be a very bad investment.

It depends how much they invest, doesn’t it.

It’s not quite the same thing but remember when China started paying anyone who would fly out half a million a week, and 100k was still a big wage here - lots of people thought it would be the death of western football, but the only players who took the shilling were random mercenaries and some B grade Brazilians.

Players are still going to want to (1) win trophies and (2) play for Real Madrid, Liverpool, United, Barcelona. If the toon are offering a million a week rather than 250k I can see it turning heads. More likely I think they’ll offer similar wages to the big dogs, but prestige and heritage and trophies plays a massive part in where people want to play. Kylian Mbappe is not going to sign for the team who are 19th in the Premier League for anything.

The money on offer in general is ruining football. I'm excluding Man City from that as they do play good stuff, but that doesn't mean I accept the ownership structure.

Owners will surely only leave if they aren't making money - unless you have strong loyalty to your asset like Gibson.

I look at a team like Burnley who have no chance of winning anything and exist to bring the TV monies in and balance the books. And they are American so no local loyalty at all.

Realistically Burnley's target every season is stay up. It would be the same for Boro. And yes I can see the Americans getting peed off if they want sporting glory - their sport is a bit more balanced. Thye could just take out say £7m profits/fees from Burnley's Sky money and sit on a financial investment alia Mike Ashly did. Treating it like a big buy to let property.

Re Saudis @ Newcastle - I am wondering if a number of commercial sponsors would not want to be associated with a Saudi team. I know a lot of big businesses operate in Saudi, but a lot of that is not transparent say to UK consumers, but at Newcastle United it would be.

Top players won't sign for Newcastle until they are in The Champions League, getting there is going to be the biggest test of the Saudi resolve. How quickly can they invest to be better than either Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Citeh or even Leicester?!

It will be interesting to,see how they get on between now and January. Teams will probably be more geared up to beat them now so those players will now need to step up and show they not the relegation fodder they position suggests .

I guess it’s mostly just paper talk but the players I’ve seen them linked with so far are players like Coutinho and Icardi. Good players but they are out of favour at their current club and need to go somewhere to rebuild their career. These are the sort of players i see them signing, plus probably some highly rated young players.

I’d be surprised if any top players in their prime would join them yet. Depends who replaces Bruce too.

Both Villa and Everton's owners have mental riches, but they've not won a league title with them. Unless they get into the champions league in the first 3 years, ffp will sting them and they'll be in exactly the same position Everton are now. I don't see them getting near the Champions League within that period.

Yeah I thought that, Coutinho and James Rodriguez types, players in that bracket seem like exactly the type they could attract. Very highly paid but a step down from the A grade clubs.

The thing is… Unbelievably talented though they are, there’s a reason why Real Madrids and Barcelonas are getting rid of them.

I could see Arsenal getting sold to the Spotify owner soon.

I could see Newcastle spend a ridiculous amount of money if there still bottom 3 in January.
