Cost of Being a Match Day Mascot in the Premier League

And selected Championship clubs. Boro is not listed. But the package is £350 which includes kit and 3 match tickets. Some clubs give it free others raise vital income shout out for Leeds and Derby! Forest on the other hand is ludicrous 8BC52B80-A43C-4188-8DE0-80C5ECEBC377.jpeg

Back in the day (mebe around 20 years ago) we played Leeds away (SKY game too). We lived near there at the time so, a few weeks before the game I rang Leeds and asked if my two lads could be Boro mascots for the day. They said it would be fine but it was up to Boro who they contacted direct. Got a message from Boro saying it would be fine as long as my lads had new clean Boro kits.
They didn’t have full kit but Boro contact said not to worry we will send them down - and they did.
Pitched up, had a fab day out with them) incl two tickets in Boro end for me and missus. They were interviewed on the pitch, met all the players then led out by Paul Ince.
Didn’t cost me a penny - how times have changed.

Lost 2-0 mind.

Absolutely ridiculous to make this a revenue stream IMO. It means jack schoite in the scheme of things. I like the charity idea on the basis of the kids have to raise the money somehow

Thanks for putting those up Zoo. It was mention on 5 Live radio this morning and West Ham and Forest were singled out for mention.

Good story Finny. That’s the way it should be. Part of work in the community rather than a money spinning exercise. But the alternative view is that these are now businesses and we are customers and they need to raise revenue wherever they can.

I'm pretty sure a (friend of a friend) paid £2000 to Man City so his nephew could walk out with them, this was a few years ago so things might have changed since then

We are £350

MFC Mascot

I looked into it before for my lad - can't stomach £350 though!

Sorry Zoophonic hadn't seen the text at the top of your reply showing our price, the link to the page is useful for people though.

If you think back - I won a mascot package at a charity event and I donated the prize - people came forward on the message board to say why their kids should get the prize. The club actually rewarded every single family that came forward with a mascot or similar match day prize. They were spread out across the season. Through the season many of the matchday kids positions are for charities.

Jeez, Rob, not at all surprised you donated it. Can you imagine the urine extraction there'd have been had you walked out with the lads?

There was a bloke on a stag do who was mascot for a game at Brentford. He walked out in full kit next to the players with the other kids. He wasn't even a Brentford fan.

Some of those fees are ridiculous.

Clubs should be ashamed and embarrassed at themselves for charging those amounts.

I can’t believe clubs charge for it to be honest. Should just do a raffle draw for it and put your childs name down and age etc from 1 game to the next. Or do it online on the clubs website. Charging hundreds of pounds for something that I believe should be a reward or prize is just pure greed from clubs in my opinion.

Even with FFP I doubt the £8,000 (or £16,000 if 2 at each match) or so money raised from mascots would make that much difference.

If you have 2 or more kids, then it would cost a fortune!

I wonder if Robbie Keane paid the other week when his lads were mascots on the day?

Nice story finny & good memories, result aside

They should make no money from this. Just have a waiting list or random draw.

considering the money in the game these days the revenue they make from this is minuscule. So why bother.

The good PR is worth more long term many kids will come back forever because of the memories they have of the day.
