Coronavirus good news thread

How many vaccines are there now?

AZ
PfizerBiontech
Moderna
Novavax
Jansen (single)
J&J (single)

sure I’ve missed one.....?

All with good efficacy, great effort in short timescale
Johnson & Johnson's Janssen CoVid-19 vaccine is a single product, it's not two different vaccines. So in a way, you've actually added one. But I'm not sure what your list is supposed to show - you've mixed up vaccines that have received Emergency Use Authorisation and vaccines that have not.

Only the Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines have received EUA's (at least, in any Western countries). The Novavax and JJJ vaccines have not received any kind of approval yet. Admittedly they seem likely to receive authorisation fairly soon, but that doesn't alter their current status.

If you're going to include vaccines still awaiting authorisation, there are over two hundred of them at different stages of development.

China and Russia have approved vaccines

Liamo, I’m not knoedgeablw like you are, I did wonder if Jansen and j&j were the same but didn’t know. I was simply looking for positive thoughts in these times and those have been most in the news as vaccines and close to approval or approved but more fool me I guess. Anyway, thanks, I’ll not bother now. the World is shiit and we’re all gonna die!!! Better? 👍

Anyway, apologies all for the little rant and to Liamo. My response could’ve done without the last part from ‘more fool me....’

This looks promising, and is another well used and available drug with plenty of historical data - 🤞🏻

Another drug to officially add to the Arsenal. 👍

‘tocilizumab cut death risk - 596 (29%) of the patients in the tocilizumab group died within 28 days compared with 694 (33%) patients in the usual care group
that means it reduced the risk of death by an additional 4% on top of the 20-35% reduction already given by dexamethasone
and it reduced the chance of a patient needing to go on a ventilator or dying from 38% to 33%’

25m now received the jab, fantastic news, watching the news & all the relevant figures are going the right way things are certainly taking a turn for the better

Long may it continue
