Conte comments on Spence

"..... after completing long-expected £20m move from Nottingham Forest" [???????!!!!!]

Oh yeah?
I bet Forest are wondering where "their" £20M`s gone!
Only problem is if that story is true (big if?) Then Boro are going to be wondering where the other £7.5 million has gone

ian wright and martin keown both raved about Djed's performances and there was a time when it looked like he was heading to Ashburton Grove

I don't think there was, as they can't approach a player without our permission, and we would likely only give permission if they were willing to meet the asking price, or something near, and they didn't do that. This was probably even less likely until after the season finished.

Just commentators bigging players up for something to say, they do it every game, and probably only watched two or three Forest games, one of those was against Arsenal, so you're going to get some made up links.

We know Spence can't really defend (certainly not his best attribute), and they don't play with wing backs, so it's not like he's gonna play right back. They have the right covered for attacking options with Saka and Maitland-Niles (been out on loan), among others.

I think they’re doing fine with their £100m+ promotion money. They signed a replacement for Djed Spence pretty sharping for £17m

and an unhappy one, not sure how his ego will handle it
I think his ego will be fine, if he kicks on he will be in with a shout of the England squad.. worse case scenario he gets loaned out to Forest in January and welcomed like a king!

I think this is a bit of a storm in a teacup really, plenty of clubs identify players to a managers specification, especially this with more of a traditional 'coach's' role, in the continental sense.

He will have had the final say and he's quoted as giving the transfer the OK too.

Given that DJ has been linked since the Mourinho days, it's no surprise that he's one that the Spurs recruitment have identified.

That Phil Spencer quote is interesting because I have the feeling that Kirstie has the last word on their decisions

Ha ha yes right

You're taking that a bit out of context to what I was replying to, but they can't contact him, not legally anyway, and certainly not to the point where he was anywhere near "on his way".

An informal (and illegal) chat, if it did happen is probably step 1 on the 100 step ladder.
