Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton

Think he will walk away after next season, will have 8 championships by then so no need to carry on into the new rules

I'm no fan of GP but I read somewhere recently that Hamilton won (I can't remember exact figures so I'm guessing a bit) 20 races out of 130 with his previous car maker and now 70 out of 130 with Mercedes.

As I said Im no fan but that to me suggests the car is a significant factor in his improvement?

Significant factor as it will always be in any form of racing, but for 2 seasons Ferrari had a better car yet he still won the title.

The top 3 with race wins schumacher, Vettel and Hamilton have all spent the majority of their career in the best car. Best drivers will end up in the best cars its inevitable.

The car and the team behind it is significant, it has been throughout history, it is important for every driver, but look at the huge gap today and other days between Bottas and Lewis, Lewis is simply the best, If he wasn’t Mercedes would replace him. It goes to show his class and his ability that he can do that to Bottas and then all the others.

Hamilton is absolutely outstanding and fully deserves both record titles and wins. It's not just the race weekend either. He must put the time in the factory and he's clearly in top physical condition too. Anyone who has driven a kart on a track so know it's physically demanding.

DCI Hunt, of course you are correct. One way of removing a lot of the car out the equation is to look at how drivers perform in the rain - power and technology are eclipsed by feel and skill - three of the best drivers ever in the rain Schumacher, Senna and good old Hamilton.

As a former motorbike racer I can’t tell you how much you constantly yearn for more power, until it rains then you wish for less.

barring titles which is only a matter of time he’s actually hit a better record than Schuey in a lot less races.39BD98CA-9536-4BB0-B249-E4984D1336AD.jpeg

Better how? Please don't stay straight line speed. F1 isn't a drag race.
Mercedes have dominated the V6 era purely and simply because they've had the best package available on pretty much every single race weekend for the past seven seasons.

And if it's inevitable that the best drivers end up in the best cars, how to you explain the likes of Barrichello, Bottas and Fisichella?

Ferrari had far better downforce which suited slower tracks with more corners. Mercedes also struggled in higher temperatures, overall the cars were fairy even with Ferrari slightly ahead.

Vettel should have won, but made mistakes at crucial points that Hamilton capitalised on. If you swap the drivers in those seasons, Hamilton would have beat Mercedes.

The best drivers end up with the best cars due to consistency and making the most of opportunities that come along.

Hamilton done it quicker, less starts, and is a cleaner driver than Schumacher

The 2016 season would like a word :)

The thing with Hamilton is his consistency and he even said in Portimao, he was feeling his way around the track and learning where he could push. He has that mental capacity to adapt during a race. Despite having the same car, I don't think Bottas can do this which is why he is consistently beaten by him.

I'd like to see him get 8 titles, but then have a go in the new regs, to see if he can still adapt as an old stager.

Who where their teammates?
Why is that relevant? None of those I mentioned were anywhere near the better drivers in F1 yet found themselves seated in the best cars. It's complete nonsense to suggest that it's inevitable the best drivers end up in the best cars.
