Communication from the Club

Quite simple really. A clear communication as to what we can expect and when it will happen. It’s standard practice at lots of clubs. We have the tools to do it. So do it.
The club are currently at the interview stage I’m sure we all know that. They are hardly going to keep us up to date with every step. If it was to be Cattermole then I’m sure he’d have been appointed by now. All evidence is being pointed to Gibson and Scott being patient and trying to make the choice the right one. I think as fans we just need to be patient and communication will be forthcoming.

I actually agree. A sort of open letter to the fans (not an off the cuff/foot in mouth radio interview) saying “look lads, I’ve knackered it up a bit, but I’ll do my best to put it right. The club doesn’t have the funds it once had but we’ll do our best with what we’ve got to give you something to cheer about in the foreseeable future”.

That sort of thing. May be futile to some but I think it would win a few fans over, at least for now.

I think the evidence is pointing to that they don’t have a plan, and if they do, I would like to be informed of it. Then the statement appointing the manager will come in due course. We have been patient enough putting up with ***** for too long. Time for answers and explanations

That’s never going to happen, they may not be in a position to give an update. If they do have a strategic plan in place which I’m sure they will why would they publish that to the fans and everybody else? As for the putting up with the **** for too long, when Steve Gibson appointed wilder how excited were you?I know I was. He’s ultimately failed miserably and was rightfully sacked but without a contender to replace him. These things can take time and we need to be more patient. IMO.

That’s not the point. By communication we don’t mean ‘who’s the new manager?’ It’s more a case of what is the long term vision and what is the model?

Because we’ve chopped and changed from experienced/proven manager to rookie so often it seems like we’re just lurching from one ‘model’ to the other.

It’s not so much contact and communication about the next manager, it’s more clarity and what sort of club we are in terms of structure. What exactly is Kieron Scott’s role in this managerial hunt? How big is this recruitment department and how many people work in it? What are we doing about scouting abroad? Why do we keep shifting from completely different managers and management styles? Who are we looking at as inspiration and hoping to emulate?

I don’t expect them to be updating us weekly, but maybe a bit of clarity would be good. I think it would quell a lot of this wild speculation we see and hear about. Our recruitment department is roundly lambasted, for example, but nobody has any idea who works in it or even how big or small it is. Is it even a department?

There’s a vacuum of clarity and leadership at the moment. Three years since Gibson spoke to supporters in public? The Woodgate unveiling? It’s not great, is it.

Has it been two weeks since Wilder was fired? He was fired by the way!

Make believe it was the results alone.. but there has been smoke since the link with Burnley and we‘ve been in free fall ever since.

We know what the longer term vision is and model? It’s been pointed out to us many times. It’s sustainability and signing potential whilst working with a director of football. Why would they need to repeat this?

I do agree though, it's been 10 days and the club have released no information about the situation.

Leo doesn't even seem to know what's happening in his interviews.

We're left to paper gossip and "ITKs".

I do agree with this. But unless the club say something (however carefully worded) there’ll always be a proportion of fans who just think Wilder was failed. I think there are two sides to the story, but I’d like to hear the club’s.

I think it can happen. We are literally at crisis stage right now and it’s as **** as it’s been for a long time and plenty of fans are worried about what the future holds. So the club, should help settle some anxieties and let us know what we can expect and when to expect it and outline some sort of vision maybe that we can half get behind. It’s not rocket science.

Where has that been said officially?

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to be arsey, I’m genuinely asking.

Well said

I guess cos so far it isn’t working at all? It would be good to have some ideas as to why and why they think it will work eventually.

If it was feb/march then maybe it would be a crisis. We are massively out of form and playing *****. I think we just need to wait until the process is complete then maybe see what the club say. We all want a winning formula desperately but the club are trying to remedy our situation as we saw with sacking wilder.
