Colin Pitchfork raped and murdered two 15 year old school girls (1983, 1986) and was jailed for life in 1988. He was released in 2021 but was called back to jail after a public outcry. The parole board deems him once again to be fit to be released. What do you think?

Personally, I don't think he should see the light of day.

I would be very surprised if anyone disagrees with you. I certainly dont.

Killed them 2 poor girls and that lad would have carried the can for at least one of them if DNA hadn't been used - for the first time

I grew up in the same village where he did, he was a few years older than me. I know what else he used to get up to and be part of. He is a wrong one and needs to be separate from the general public for ever.

When he was released he wasnt allowed to be in the Leicester region and so was removed and lived in my area. This badly affected my mental health for a few years.

The people of Narborough wont be too happy.
His horrendous crimes cast a shadow of fear over the area at the time, and fingers were being pointed [wrongly] at male members of the community at the time. Keep him locked up.

I'd leave it to the professionals to decide. No real point in having a justice system otherwise.
I think the crux of the matter (for me anyway) is that I am not sure we have a justice system that is fit for purpose though, It seems to consider the rights of the criminals more than it does the effects on the victims nowadays.

The joke of a sentence given to a Gateshead knife fanatic, Leighton Amies, for killing another teenager and then bragging about it, 12 years (minimum) tells me all I need to know about the ‘justice’ system. He could be out by he is 27/28 and enjoy the rest of a long life, his victim and their families each got an actual life sentence. It should never be called a justice system, it seems anything but nowadays.

When you read through his crimes, and even just partially understand pain and suffering he's caused you'd think that the sentence he received is barely worthy for what he's done. You have wonder what it takes to held in prison until you die. I mean, this scumbag brutally raped and murdered two young girls, who were doted by the parents, families and friends and yet the so-called authorities believe he's a reformed character, I think it's madness because no one can understand what goes on in the mind of a killer or a rapist.

As per usual, the families of the victims are just silent commodities when the time comes for these maniacs to be released.

Dawn Ashworth's uncle, Philip Musson, told BBC Woman's Hour that releasing Pitchfork had been an "ill-judged" experiment. "The wellbeing of children and families [was] being subject to this experiment," he said.

"I appreciate we can't lock up the vast majority of criminals and throw away the key but there are just one or two who commit such heinous offences against society that they can't be successfully repatriated safely back into society, and he is one of them."
