Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis

Agree on Konsa, underrated and versatile defender. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on.

I must admit I laughed at the Palmer transfer in the summer, but I'm starting to eat my words, looks a player. Definitely has the Pep coaching grained into him, cool as a cucumber on the ball.
 
Strange one for Sterling - looks like he has completely dropped out of the picture now.

I thought he may have been called back up today. He had a great game yesterday and looks to be back in some decent form, and to be fair has pretty much always performed internationally over the last few years.
 
The experience of Sterling is what we need for a tournament, Southgate needs to make sure he doesn’t alienate him before the Euros as I’d say he should be going based on current form. He will probably get a call up for the Brazil and Belgium friendlies in March.
 
I was talking to a mate the other day about the England squad for the Euros next year and I said I think Rico Lewis will be the 'surprise' inclusion in place of Reece James who won't be included, even if he is fit, because of him pulling out of the this squad. Southgate doesn't like it when players do that.

Yeah and Lewis is one who could play that deep midfield role aswell as full back. He’s perfect

Much prefer him to Rashford.
 
Keep seeing Reece James linked to Real and City etc, but I imagine teams wont be going near him for a while until he proves his fitness.

He's guaranteed a big injury every year for the last few seasons.

Love him as a player but I think you may be right about Lewis - his versatility wins out too, Southgate loves a player who can offer a few positions.

Has he been picked since he went home early from the World Cup after he was burgled? I wonder if Southgate disagreed with his decision to do that? Would seem very harsh that mind!
He's gone from first name on the teamsheet for England to not even getting in the squad when we've got a fair few injuries and he's in great form.

He was set to be picked last summer, but refused the call-up because he wanted to focus on getting fit.

That may have ***ed Southgate off.

Didn't realise that.

Seems that is definitely a bugbear for Southgate, as said above, Reece James may become the next victim.

I think I've misremembered it, I've just looked back at the Southgate interview from the time and he said that Sterling wasn't under consideration anyway.

Maybe it was leaving the World Cup early.
Very harsh if so.
 
I wonder if something happened with Sterling and Ben White. Both haven’t really been recalled since that World Cup. There was issues with Sterling and Joe Gomez before too. Maybe he had enough of him falling out with people.

Seemed to be some carry on of that with Foden when they played earlier in the season (or at least it got very tetchy between the 2, so I wondered if there was any England link)



So basically I could be clutching at straws linking Foden to it! haha

Yeah I do think Foden and White don’t get on. In every game since the World Cup there has been chew between them. That’s why I’ve linked Sterling to it being an ex city team mate of Foden. Could be something in it?
